Ivanhoe Offline

The Ivanhoe game is no longer compatible with internet browsers and requires and update to its Java Quick Start feature. Because the development team at NINES is currently developing Juxta and Collex, there will be no updates to the Ivanhoe application in the next few months.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to allocate time and resources to this game in the near future. If you are a developer and would like to help us work on this open-source application, please do contact us at technologies [at] nines [dot] org.

a new way to play

Thanks to IVANHOE programmer Nick Laiacona, this site now features a much-improved way to create and join games. Click the Games tab above to check it out. Once you’re logged in, you’ll see a list of games in which you participate. We also show you a list of active games (in which moves have been made recently) and the full list of archived games.

Our documentation is now completely up-to-date as well. You can access a hefty PDF manual at the Help tab above.

the state of the playspace and immediate plans

For introductory material on IVANHOE, please see the “About” section of this web site.

For the past several months, and for the next few as well (until January 2007), we are supporting several gameplays in various places in the United States and elsewhere.  These sessions are enabling us to deal with the few remaining bugs in the system.  Gameplay at this point is quite stable.

In terms of further development, we plan to move Ivanhoe to this blog/website, which will enourage interaction among the community of users.  The game will be launched from this website, which will also give access to the games that have been played by various users.  We expect the website to become a portal for further developments as the actual community of users will be driving such developments.

To that end, we encourage IVANHOE users to contribute blog posts here.
