Walter Strauss – African Fingerstyle
21 Mar
I ran into this really cool guitar lesson by Walter Strauss, where he shows his playing style. He’s studied the music of West Africa, more specifically the kora, and has adapted it to the guitar. In fact he’s currently in Mali deepening his knowledge.
Check out this video of him playing his song Ishi:

Erik Mongrain plays a song from his new album
16 Mar
I completely missed this one: Erik Mongrain posted a song from his upcoming album Aftermath about a month ago. Wonderful use of color and texture, really looking forward to listening to it after it’s properly recorded. The new album should be coming out some time in June of this year.

Jake Morley
8 Mar
Heard of Jake Morley? He’s a singer-songwriter from the UK who plays in a percussive style. This video really caught my attention. There are other videos of him playing solo, but it’s really nice hearing percussive guitar played with other instruments…something I would really like to see more of.
