Infobahn International, Inc. is a complete Internet Service Provider (ISP) and computer consulting firm headquartered in Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania. Infobahn was founded in 1994 and was one of the first locally-owned Internet Service Providers in the Pittsburgh area. Our goal is to provide you with the highest quality (both in terms of speed and availability) Internet connection possible.
Infobahn International offers a quality service that fast, reliable, and versatile. We have worked hard to build a solid system and the following aspects of our service ensure the best possible service to you.
We are directly connected to Sprint, and UUNET with high-speed T3 circuits. These are by far two of the largest internet backbone carriers. This gives us redundancy, since either of the two carriers can go down, but Infobahn Internation will remain up. Also, our high-speed CISCO 7206VXR router will route your traffic over the carrier that has the shortest path to the site you are connecting to and this keeps our service fast and responsive. Forget the congested peering gateways and forget the no-name backbone carriers!
A service is only as reliable as its hardware and we have made sure to use only equipment we can depend on. Our routers are CISCO which is the industry leader. We have been using Lucent/Livingston terminal servers for over four years and had replaced all modem pools with the digital Lucent Portmaster in December 1996. Our servers are 500 & 600Mhz DEC Alphas running DEC Unix. This are mini-computer systems, not a desktop systems. These alphas all run DEC C2 security and, with 512Mb or more of RAM, these servers leave PCs and other desktop Unix systems in the dust!
With over 50 local dial-up numbers in the 412 and 724 area codes, you can place a local call to us from just about anywhere in 412 and 724. Our coverage includes Wexford, Cranberry, Murrysville and other areas serviced by local phone companies other than Bell Atlantic. (Please see the terms and conditions on the Sign-Up page.)
We were the first ISP in Western Pennsylvania to be 100% digital (December of 1996) when we replaced all of our old analog terminal servers with new Lucent Portmaster III units. As result, every modem we use is capable of supporting ISDN and K56FLEX/V.90 connections. This includes rural areas. And you don't have to worry about different numbers for different services: our system will automatically adjust to your call!
Since all activity (both dialup and dedicated) must pass through the phone company, we reasoned that the phone company was the best place to position our equipment. We rent space in downtown Pittsburgh and are powered by the same generator backed up power that the phone company uses. Our equipment is in secure, temperature controlled cages, and since your traffic does not pass through our office, there is no uneeded slowness or failure points to worry about. And unlike most ISPs, we don't worry about power outages when we see a storm coming.
Have been offering internet access to Western Pennsylvania since 1994 and have a proven track record for quality service. We were ranked #1 dial-up internet service provider for 1998 and 1999 in the Pittsburgh Business Times. And with our low user to modem ratio, busy signals are few and far between.
We now offer high-speed DSL lines in areas where the Telephone Company supports it. These DSL lines offer high-speed connectivity for reasonable prices and are suitable for business applications. Call our office for more information.
