Welcome to Prodigy Customs Project Gallery |
Welcome to Prodigy Customs, one of the Southeast premiere Custom and restoration shops. We specialize in restoration and customizing of 50s through 70s American Muscle cars. Our primary focus and favorite projects today are customs, particularly of the popular ProTouring and RestoMod theme. We are very in touch with this theme and stay current on the latest and greatest in the world of ProTouring. We currently have a few fantastic Pro Touring projects in the shop now. Please check the current projects section to see what projects are going on today. The retro ride scene is regaining tremendous popularity and we really enjoy doing these cars. Check the past project section. We accept Custom projects no matter what make, model, or year, as long as we feel it is interesting and exciting. The street / Race scene is also one of our favorites. We own, build, cruise and race some of the fastest street / drag cars that are both beautiful and quick. While we do mostly customs now, we still accept interesting restorations that peak our interest. Restoration projects that excite us are rare, possibly big horsepower, interesting combinations of options, or special limited models. Restoration projects can be of all makes, however for concourse quality, national level, extreme show car restorations; we are Camaro, Chevelle and muscle era Chevrolet specialist. See our past projects and see multiple restoration projects. We do partials from just paint, to complete start to finish basket cases. We do specific detailing projects in areas ranging from routine service work, paint and body, Chassis and roll bars, engine building and engine / compartment detailing. We are also high performance Chevy specialist producing some of the fastest “true” street cars around. Please see the services section for more services detail. Be sure to check out our bio pages. Our resume is a pretty impressive list of accomplishments and our previous projects list is pretty impressive as well. Keep an eye on out current project section which we will update regularly. Thanks for looking, Sincerely, Frank, Lisa and Michael “the prodigy” Serafine

Pro-Touring.Com Official Car
MotiV8tr
1968 Twin Turbo Camaro
We built MotiV8tr for Larry Callahan, Founder and Owner of Pro-Touring.com, the largest website for Pro Touring Cars anywhere. Larry’s car was what motivated him to start Pro-Touring.com. However, while motivated to start the website, it was easy for life to block his motivation to finish his car. So after years of the car just sitting, Larry contacted us in the summer of 2008 and a deal was struck to do a 45 day thrash for SEMA Show 2008 Debut of MotiV8tr. The Thrash was covered with daily video updates on what became the largest thread and views in Pro-Touring.com history. 90 pages, 1750 replies and comments and over 200,000 views! There is a thread link below. When you check out the thread the video updates start on page 16.
Anyway, we made the show to rave reviews. The car was displayed in a awesome location in Centerforce Clutches booth and drew a huge crowd.
Details on MotiV8tr are too many to list. But a summary of parts goes like this. Twin Turbos feeding a custom intake with 8 throttle bodies feeding 406cubic inches of Prodigy Power using Dart block, Trick Flow 220CNC heads, Compstar rotating assembly, Comp Cam valve train. The transmission is a Richmond 5 speed with Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch which feed out Prodigy Customs / Moser Engineering 12 bolt with 33 spline True Track and 3.08 (Yes 3.08 for the Richmond) gears.
Suspension is a Art Morrison Front subframe with C6 Corvette components, and the rear is a Prodigy Bar (4) link all combined with Ride tech double adjustable shockwaves. Binders are our Prodigy Customs SUPER COMPETITION Total Car G Machine Package including HUGE Wilwood 14.25” Front (6) Piston W6A kit and 13” (4) piston Superlite rear kit. A set of Matte black and Chrome Lip Prodigy / Forgeline SO3P Groove wheels in 18 X 8 and 18 X 12 are wrapped in BFG KDW TA2 tires.

Project "Prodigy"
|
|
|
|
Project Prodigy is probably our best known car. With pure love it or hate it styling, Project Prodigy is possibly one of the most recognized Pro Touring Camaro’s on the planet. Finished for SEMA Show 2005, Project Prodigy was an instant hit and did the trifecta of trade shows, appearing as a at all 3 of the big important automotive trade shows. Project Prodigy made its debut as QA1 Products feature vehicle at SEMA 2005, Then just a month later appeared again at the Performance Racing Industry SHOW 2005, and then was invited as a special feature vehicle at Hot Rods & Restoration show in 2006. Pretty good for a car built by a 16 year old kid! See, Project Prodigy was built by our own Michael “the prodigy” Serafine. He started at 16 years old with a dead 67 Camaro convertible, and 2 years later at 18 years old was standing on the floor at SEMA with his first car! That’s a big deal for someone that wants to be a car builder! And yeah, a big deal for the dad, me!
Following the trade show and some regional shows, Project Prodigy received a 6 page feature in the January 07 issue of Super Chevy Magazine. We were then bestowed with a huge honor and were featured in a seven page shop feature in Hot Rod and Restoration magazine March 2007 that focused heavily on Michael, his Project Prodigy, and how all this all lead him into the business. You may also have seen Project Prodigy in Popular Hot Rodding magazine, Camaro Performers, and My Classic Car, or on various automotive forums.

Will and Shanna’s Back In Black 69 Camaro
|
|
|
|
Back in Black is one of those projects that came to us when it should not have needed to. Another shop had already been contracted to build the car and made a huge mess of the finished project. So much so we had to trash the body / paint work, strip the car completely, re weld panels, it was ugly. The interior also had to be trashed completely. We basically had to take the car apart and put it back together. But in the end, a dream, that became a nightmare, finally became a dream come true with one of the classiest Pro Touring Camaro’s we ever built. I like to call it our Country Club edition! Classy enough for the Country Club but aggressive enough to demand respect!
Will and Shanna received quite a few accolades and honors since we finished Back in Black. A 2008 PRI Show appearance as Wilwood Brakes Feature Car which was followed up by a couple months later with a 976 Platinum certificate at the Winter nationals, followed by a 6 page feature in Camaro Performers. But there biggest accolade and satisfaction came when they went to a show in their town, sponsored b the shop that ruined both there’s and their dads car (we fixed dads car too) and they won first (with back and Black) and second (with dads Chevelle) for the entire show! Put that in your pipe and smoke it mister butcher!
The laser straight Exterior is done in Magic Black metallic and Champagne stripes. Lots of people ask about the colors. The black is very black in the shade or darkness, but in the sun or under lights, the champagne metallic’s in the black are very faint and match the stripe color as if almost on purpose………..wait, that was very much on purpose!
The Interior is covered in tan and black Swede. The seats are Corbeau and our custom door panels and console by One off Rides details out the interior nicely.
Powered by a 450HP LS6, a T56 sends power to a Prodigy / Moser 12 bolt with 33 spline True track and 3.73 cogs. One of our Prodigy Customs Cool Package radiators with dual 13” fans cools the beast.

Project Payback

One of the more sinister rides we did this year is Todd’s killer 1969 Camaro. Todd’s Camaro is well traveled. Todd lives in Las Vegas. After buying it in Michigan, Todd sent it to Ohio for the Pro Touring treatment. Six months later Todd got concerned the shop he was in may not have a good feel for the theme and decided to send it to us in Florida, then we sent it to Vegas! So the car had some 5000 miles of truck riding before Todd saw it.
Like many deals we do, Todd’s car was a total site unseen deal. So Todd had not seen the donor car, or the finished car until it showed up at his door step. I think he was pleasantly surprised!
What Todd sent us was a really nice western body with almost zero rust, but some typical 40 year old repairs. Fabrication wise we installed Mini tubs, Roll bar, 3 point seat belts, Sparco Seats, Smooth firewall, DSE frame connectors and DSE Hydroformed Subframe. We installed a Chris Alston G Bar (4) link rear suspension, and one of our Prodigy Customs / Moser Engineering G bar ready bolt in 12 bolt rears complete with a 33 spline Tru Track, 3.73 cogs, big Ford bearings, Performance cover. Sounds like a bad ass rear huh?
It better be. Todd is stuffing a built 496CI Big block in it with a TKO 600 transmission and will pound on it! Todd figured with all that power he would need to step up the brake package and opted for our Prodigy Customs Total Car G Machine Big brake package complete with optional 13” front (6) piston and 13” rear (4) piston Wilwoods. Those brakes are going to look stunning behind the Boze Forged Boost wheel in 19 X 12 and 18 X 10 sizes wrapped with massive 345 / 30 / 19 rear and 275 / 40 / 18 front Michelin PS2’s. Big as they are I do no think the tires have a chance of staying hooked!
Like a lot of the projects we do, we gave Todd and painted water tight roller. All the paint work, top, bottom in and out was done, all the welding and fab is done. All the weather strips are in and the New Prodigy Customs Smoke glass kit is installed, along with all the chrome and trim. No Todd can do the fun art and install the engine / trans, wiring, interior, etc. Doing the nasty part here makes it totally possible for the home hobbist to finish the car from this point forward.
Look for Todd around Las Vegas in a few months. And maybe, JUST MAYBE, we might find a spot at SEMA Show for this one.

Billy's Goat

Billy’s Goat
Arguably the most popular car we have ever built. Certainly one of the most well know project we ever did. Bill Howells GTO has been a real gift for us here at prodigy bringing a lot of interest our way. Bill Howell resides in one of the country’s hottest cruising spots, Pigeon Forge Tennessee. Nine months a year, the little mountain town will have car shows / cruises weekly. So living there and being a pure motorhead, Bill has got to have some toys. Bill has had a lot of nice cars through the years, but this 65 “Pro Tour GTO” convertible is his finest cruiser yet.
With some custom mini tubs, and some creative narrowing of the original boxed frame was performed to fit massive 345/25/20 rear tires on killer Forgeline VR3P 3 piece wheels. The GTO “got the looks.” Power comes from a MagnaCharged 6.0 LSX and 4L80E automatic transmission, and a 3.73 ratio 9” rear. The GTO will has plenty of whoa power courtesy of a Wilwood 13” Superlight brake system
On the inside, we grafting in a comfy grey leather custom sewn and modified Olds Aurora interior. We also added custom silver Carbon Fiber treatments by Wabbits throughout the interior. The beautiful exterior in two tone red and silver, along with a cloth convertible top draw on lookers like a magnit to steel.
The 65 GTO is widely recognized as the granddaddy of muscle cars, and Bill’s car is the Mack daddy of GTO’s. Bill’s GTO has been nick named “the attention whore”. After making its debut at SEMA 2005, at the end of the show the car was shot for a 7 page feature in Popular Hot Rodding including a cover and centerfold. The GTO is one of Flowmaster’s calendar car. Dennis gauge did a full feature and interview with Bill on My Classic Car feature, On Power our Bill was invited to take the GTO to Fox and Friends. It is the current Year One catalog car where it sweeps the GTO class every year, the car shows up everywhere. After more then 2 years, people never seem to tire of the GTO. With the timeless and tasteful design, it would not surprise to see even more of the GTO!

Mike's Monte Carlo
|
|
|
|
Michael needed a driver after realizing Project Prodigy had become way to much a car to drive everyday. So the search for a “practical” platform began. He wanted something that would seat 4 adults, yet have some classic styling. We ran up on a one owner 1986 Monte Carlo SS I have known since new. Perfect original paint rust free body, we were in business.
We built a nasty little hydraulic roller Holley 20 degree 187CC cylinder heads. We topped the motor with a 2 stage 250HP cheater NOS set up compete with a pretty polished bottle. With somewhere in the 500HP to 525HP range, and 250HP of spray on top, we cannot wait to get to the dragstrip! The little 388 CI motor sounds nasty through the Hooker Aero Chamber exhaust. Backed with a Prodigy Customs TKO 600 5 speed conversion and a 3.73 posi, this thing is a blast to drive
For handling to match the power, Hotchkis hooked us up with one of everything including a TVS kit, Upper Arms, and A set of 4 Hotchkis shocks on each corner. Stopping is handled by one of our Prodigy Customs Total Car G Machine Big Brake packages using Wilwood 13" (6) piston front and 12.2” (4) piston rear with internal E Brake.
Forgeline ZX3Ps in chrome with Magic Black centers in huge 18 X 12 and 18 X 11s wraped with 335 / 30 / 18s and 295 /30 / 18s Michelin Pilot Sports tucked under our custom flares give the car a killer stance and aggressive look.
My buddy William at One Off Rides did the killer stereo install including JBL amps and Elevation Audio supplied their new wicked speakers. The thing is a rolling concert.
So if your around Orlando, chances are good you will see Michael riding around.
