New Websites Unveiled at Tech Conference

28 Sep, 2006  Software, Electronics, Tech, Web, Entertainment

I came across DEMO yesterday via ReadWriteWeb. DEMOfall 2006 is a tech conference where many startups come to launch their products for the first time. I’ve read through the presenting companies and found a few emerging websites/services that seem interesting and might be worth watching as they unfold..

spacer eSnips - A place where you can share all your media in one place. Photos, videos, documents, web links, it’s all your ’share’ sites rolled into one. You can share your stuff publicly, privately within groups, or neither. eSnips also integrates a marketplace into the mix by allowing you to open up a store for items you wish to sell and uses PayPal for payment services.

spacer iBloks - Mix your photos, music, and videos online, called iBloks. Then you can share your iBloks to anyone via the web, email, cell, or IM.

spacer EyeSpot - EyeSpot is another online video sharing site. However, EyeSpot has added a few extra features that are worth looking into. EyeSpot lets you edit your uploaded videos directly on the website which includes transitions, effects, and titles. You have access to all videos that are shared publicly and you can even RE-MIX those videos. EyeSpot also allows you to post these videos externally using one-click publishing that will post your videos to your Live Journal, Blogger, Veoh, and Blip.TV accounts. You can also send your videos to your friend’s cell phones from EyeSpot. There are plenty of other features worth reading about so check out the site for more info.

spacer Cuts - This isn’t exactly another video sharing site. There aren’t any previews on the site yet as it’s in beta right now. From what I gather, Cuts will allow you to edit DVD movies and TV Shows that you already own and share it with others.

3Jam - 3Jam is “Reply-All” text messaging on any mobile phone. Send a text message to as many of your friends as you want and everyone can reply to everyone. Conference text messaging, if you will.

spacer Flurry - Flurry enables you to receive all of your personal email and news on your cell phone, for free. (Internet Data plan on your cell phone is required)

JAJAH - Make free local and international calls with your regular phone. Type in your number, type in your friend’s number, your phone will ring, their phone will ring, TA-DA! you’re connected. No more long distance charges.

spacer Wallop - Microsoft’s new creation aimed to compete with MySpace and others. It looks more like a desktop than a webpage, as it is Flash based. You can purchase mods to add to your page.

spacer Hey Lets Go - Aimed as a central meeting place to find events and people in your area. Similar to MySpace and others.

spacer ScrapBlog - Photo sharing community. Create multimedia scrapbooks featuring your photos, videos, audio and other elements.

spacer Add This! - Using the Add This Browser Button (Firefox and Internet Explorer), you can collect content from the web and save it into your favorite bookmarking service, feed reader, shopping service, or podcast reader. You can also add Add This! buttons to your webpage for bookmarking, feed subscription, etc.

Pinger - Instant voice messaging for your mobile phone.
Fonpods - Listen to your podcasts from any phone.
Photo Crank - Add graphics and captions to mobile photos. <
