March Trail Day on Vedder
March Trail Day on Vedder Round 2
Spring is here or just around the corner depending on who you talk to. The idea is to get as much done on the trails as possible prior to the riding season. This is a great opportunity for those who want to give back to the trail to have a chance to come out and do just that. And for those that have been coming out regularly, this will keep the good Trail Karma flowing.
This is another official trail day. Showing up gets your name in the draw for some prizes later in the Season. Just our way of saying thanks to all that lend a hand on the trails. More details to come…
When: Sunday, March 25th, 2011 @ 9:30 am (RAIN OR SHINE)
Where: Mountain Bike Parking Lot at the Bottom of Vedder Mountain
What to Bring:
- Some tools will be provided, but just in case bring some trail tools, a shovel, rake, bucket etc.
- Work gloves
- Warm clothing (dress appropriately for the weather)
- Your friends, neighbours, family, the more volunteers the better
- Something to snack on, and some water
There will also be another trail day on April 8, 2012. Keep your eyes posted here for details.
Heritage Park Spring Series Recap
See the Heritage Park Race Results.
The weather was cold, the trails were muddy, and the sky was threatening to snow, but that’s what riding in February in the Fraser Valley is all about. If anything, the tough conditions made a great race course even more fun. Certainly the Mudbunnies were happy!

4X Recap
Tuesday night marked the end of the 4X series for this winter. Does that mean summer is on its way? After a wet morning ride I sure hope so.
We appreciate everyone who came out to race or volunteer this year, especially those that decided to spend Valentines Day with their two wheeled sweetheart and join in for the finals. Check out the final point tally and some great photos by Collin Cameron and Kevin Feather to see how it all went down.
We would like to thank all our sponsors who helped make the series a success. We had support from Race Face, Norco, Kona, Pinkbike, Kali, Chromag, Wentings Cycle, North Shore Bike Shop, Cranky’s Aldergrove, Obsession Bikes, Lifecycle and Maple Ridge Cycle.
One of our favorite stories from this year was being able to help out a group of students in need. We hooked the kids up with a Rampage frame and wheelset from Norco. The local community and sponsors then decided to give a little extra and set the bike up for the kids. These kids are set to rip it up next year.
As the weather starts to dry up we hope you are all getting out and training for our All Mountain Spring Series. We only have a couple of days left for you to pre-register. Remember that everyone who pre-registers is entered into a draw for one of two entries into the Nimby Fifty.
If you have any comments, photos or videos you want to share, head over to our 4X thread in the forum.

2012 FVMBA Spring Race Series
2012 FVMBA Spring Race Series: Are you ready to Hammer?
All races start at 10am. Come early if you need to register!
Due to the 30cm of love Mother Nature sent us, this race has been delayed from the original March 4th date to March 11th.
The days are warming up and the snow has begun to melt. Drainage has been dug and the smell of fresh cedar is in the air. Get your legs warmed up, because it’s time for the FVMBA All Mountain Spring Series. Continue reading →
January 31 4X Results
Results are in for this weeks FVMBA indoor 4X race.
It isn’t too late to join in the fun for this year. Practice nights are every Tuesday and Thursday until February 19. Races are Tuesday evenings and start at 8pm. This is a BC Cup race series so jerseys will be awarded at the February 14 finals. There is only a couple weeks left so come out and race, practice or just watch.
In addition to jerseys there is a Norco Rampage frame with wheelset (that showed up this week) and we are giving it away. Plenty of other prizes will be given away from other sponsors including Kona, Chromag and Race Face. You won’t win prizes for sitting at home on the couch watching reality TV.
Check out some of Colin Cameron’s photos from this weeks event.
A Friendly Reminder to Local Builders
As a service to our friends in forestry, we just wanted to remind all builders that it is not acceptable to drive any nails, spikes or other potentially harzardous object into trees. Spikes in trees prove dangerous to mill workers. We want to keep our welcome in the forest, and the best way to do this is by cooperating with other stakeholders.
Trail markers should be mounted on posts or attached to trees by safer methods. If a marker absolutely must be mounted on a tree Aluminum spikes are the least dangerous. No steel spikes…ever, please.
While this may not be the easiest way of marking your trail, it does provide a way for you to get creative. Ropes? Rocks? What creative markers have you seen or used. Please feel free to let us know in the forum.
Thanks for all the hard work you put into our trails. We love you for it.
