Life on a Leash
Overview
At the end of 2008 in my second year of a HND in 'Multimedia Design' we were given the task of creating a 3D based animation piece, this initially seemed an impossible task as I'd never used any 3D based software before.
The project duration was nearly 4 months so there was some scope for learning and putting the time in if you really wanted. The story concept was simple, but came about very early on in the project, this really helped as it mean't I was able to start building and learning as I went along.
The main robot and environment came together over a period of 3 months, this left a month to create the animation aspect, which may initially seem like a decent amount of time, but some scenes from the final animation were taking around 6 hours to render out 1 second of animation. The final scenes were rendered the last night of the project, and put into place the morning of hand in. It was a very tight run thing, but 3D work really grabbed me for this 4 month period, and it proved to be one of my most enjoyable projects from the course.

Transmission
Overview
Transmission was a product created just as a concept and a design idea. This was put together before we had the devices we have today, so the similarities to something like an iPad/iPhone was by chance and good forward thinking.
