Easter Festivals, Celebrations, and Traditions
March 10th, 2012 by GodFearingEaster celebrations and traditions can vary greatly from cartoon-esque Easter Bunny traditions all the way to extremely solemn religious practices.
The Easter Bunny Cometh
Whereas Easter was undeniably a religious celebration in my house so was the Easter Bunny and the Easter basket that I anticipated every Easter morning. But Easter baskets don’t have to be full of candy and aren’t necessarily just for kids. Personalized Easter gifts in the form of gift baskets can brighten anyone’s day; from Mon or Grandma all the way to business partners and clients. Each basket can be filled with whatever treats or themes the receiver finds most appealing.
The Carrying Of The Cross
Some churches go to the extent of having people lug a giant wooden cross (usually on wheels) down the street and pass out spikes that have been tipped in red paint days before Easter. It may seem a bit maudlin but I have not only heard of these practices but participated in them as well. It’s a harsh reminder of what happened before the resurrection and what Easter is really all about.
Whichever way you choose to celebrate is a personal choice; and has undoubtedly been passed down from generation to generation.
