A new twist this year is the 85 mile course, either with or without the steep climb to Lookout Mountain – the choice is yours!

This course starts and finishes at Stapleton Central Park and explores the northwest section of the metro area. Initially heading due west on the designated bike lane along Martin Luther King Blvd. past the original brick homes of the Park Hill and Whittier neighborhoods into downtown Denver, this course continues through the historic Highlands neighborhood before moving on to the spacious views from Arvada, Lakewood and Golden.

Cyclists geared up for the ultimate challenge then begin the signature hill climb up the steep grades and breathtaking views on the Lookout Mountain ascent. Those who opt out of the climb will meander through the foothills of Golden and Boulder on long stretches of scenic back roads.

New in 2012, the 85 Mile ride follows the Pro Cycling Challenge course through Golden and heads north along the foothills, around Standley Lake and through the open space along the northwestern edge of the metro area. Cyclists go as far north as Broomfield before turning east towards the sweeping plains.

Once they turn south, they follow the fast-paced wide open road, offering the best of Colorado’s contrasting vistas with grassy plains on one side and snowcapped peaks on the other. The final leg of this course is a straight shot to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, on to the Northfield shopping district and back to Stapleton Central Park.

Registration includes a meal at the Post Ride Party, sponsor sample bag on ride day, and exclusive offers via our “Go Green” Virtual Goody Bag. Must be at least 14 yrs old to ride this course.
