"Mauro Veglio's straight Barolo
is once again lovely in 2007. A graceful, effortless wine, the Barolo
shows gorgeous depth in a mid-weight, approachable style that defines
the essence of La Morra. Red berries, flowers and licorice are woven
together nicely all the way through to the inviting, satisfying finish.
Over the last two vintages Veglio's Barolo has distinguished itself as a
great value and also a beautiful wine to enjoy right out of the gate.
It is an excellent choice for restaurants. Anticipated maturity:
2011-2020.
This is a promising set of Baroli from Mauro Veglio. Quite
uncharacteristically, many of the 2007s shut down quickly in the glass,
so where these wines are headed over the near-term is hard to predict.
New oak levels are down to roughly 50% for the single-vineyard Baroli,
although the Rocche get a slightly higher percentage of new barrels. "

"This ripe red shows a licorice
tinge to its cherry, raspberry and spice flavors. Generous and slightly
chewy, with firms tannins that need time to be resolved. Best from 2014
through 2027. 500 cases made."

"Good medium red. Liqueur-like dark raspberry, underbrush and a whiff of
menthol on the nose. Supple, sweet and nicely balanced; less floral and
gripping than the 2008 version but a nice fleshy mouthful of Barolo,
with adequate energy for the year. Finishes with a serious dusting of
tannins."
