Twitter hashtags are a community-driven convention for adding context to your tweets. They are much like tagging a blog post or a Facebook or Flickr photo, thereby allowing tweets to be grouped and more easily searchable by topic. Hashtags are noted with a # sign preceding a word or abbreviation and were popularized during the San Diego fires in 2007 when Nate Ritter used the hashtag #sandiegofire to identify his updates related to the disaster.… READ MORE
