Chiropractic adjustments work to release physical tension in the body.  Gentle adjustments alleviate stress to the nervous system.  The nervous system is constantly receiving and responding to information.  In a fast paced modern world our nervous systems are overworked and exhausted.  The adjustments work to restore balance, allowing the body to relax, release tension, and function more fluidly.

It is common to find relief from headaches, tension in the neck, shoulders and back.  Many people report feeling less anxious or overwhelmed, fewer colds, and better sleep as a result of chiropractic adjustments. Other conditions that respond well include vertigo and high blood pressure.

Patients with high blood pressure generally respond favorably to reducing tension in their neck. Tension in the neck can cause an increase in blood pressure, often a fact left out in a traditional doctor’s visit.

People use chiropractic for various reasons. Athletes want to maintain optimal performance, an administrator may be sitting at a computer for extended hours, and mom can be overwhelmed. Children with ear infections often respond favorably to gently chiropractic adjustments that help to drain the ears naturally and increase immune function.

Chiropractic is a hands-on profession. Chiropractors are authorized to:

  • Detect nerve interference by using their hands, instruments, x-rays or other imaging procedures (e.g., MRIs), and by ordering and interpreting laboratory tests;
  • Provide hands on adjustments;
  • Use electrical stimulation, acupressure, massage, ultrasound, deep heat, hot and cold packs, traction, and support devices; and
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on lifestyle habits, posture, exercise, diet, and stress.

What credentials do New York licensed chiropractors have?

New York licensed chiropractors have completed a minimum of two years of college courses in the basic sciences followed by a four-year professional study program at an accredited chiropractic college. This results in the Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree. These professionals have also passed national written and “hands-on” practical examinations.

Soft Tissue Treatments

Muscles, ligaments, and tendons start to lose elasticity.  This loss in elasticity happens as a result of accidental injury, sports, nutritional deficiencies, surgery and age. Soft Tissue treatments directly affect the movement and elasticity of the muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Soft tissue therapy assists the patient in healing old and new injuries.  Treatment of the ligaments and tendons allows for a lengthening of the muscle tissue. The treatment includes specific exercise instruction for the involved areas.  Commonly treated areas include:  Neck, back, shoulders, wrists, hips, knees, and feet.

The ONE Program is unique in its approach, using a combination of Chiropractic, Soft Tissue Therapy, Exercise instruction and Nutritional counseling, allowing patients to feel better quickly.
