Reminder: Proof of citizenship now required for junior and senior playdowns

Shuster, Schultz win WWUG playdowns

2006 Olympians John Shuster and Jessica Schultz will represent the USA at the 2007 Winter World University Games after winning the playdown Sunday in Centerville, Wis. The Shuster and Schultz rinks will compete Jan. 17-27 in Torino, Italy.

U-18 Optimist International applications due 12/8

 

The U-18 Optimist International competition will take place April 4-9 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The application deadline is Dec. 8. All paperwork should be sent to Bev Schroeder at the USCA office.

Schenectady to host Level I instructor clinic

 

The Schenectady Curling Club is hosting a Level I Instructor Clinic on Saturday, Dec. 16. Registration begins at 8:30 am. Class starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. Please bring your curling gear as there are on-ice activities. There is a $15 USCA fee for registration and materials payable at the clinic. Checks are preferred and should be made payable to the USCA. Lunch may be purchased separately in the club. Please register with Charlene Fitzgerald at cfitzge1@nycap.rr.com. Deadline for registration is Dec. 11.

40 sets of curling stones set to come to USCA office

A shipment of 40 sets of curling rocks is en route from Scotland to the USCA office to distribute to new curling clubs across the U.S. Press release.

Hotel information for upcoming events posted

Hotel information for upcoming championship events is now available and will be updated as more information comes in to the office:

Arena ice grant application is Nov. 30

 

Clubs using rental arena ice looking to receive a grant to help offset the cost are invited to apply for a USCA grant. The application deadline is Nov. 30. Download the application form here.

Level I officiating course set in Portage

A Level I officiating course will take place from 1-4 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Portage (Wis.) High School. Hosted by the Portage Curling Club, you can contact Rusty Schieber at 608-742-0387 to register. Cost is $20.

Olympians Dan Jansen (speedskating) and Picabo Street (downhill skiing) will join the Pete Fenson and Debbie McCormick rinks for the Korbel Elite Curling Challenge on NBC Nov. 26 from 2-4 p.m. ET. Press release.
