Congratulations Marathon Finishers!

You did it!! On a Sunday where rain was predicted almost all day long, we finally caught a break in the weather and ran 26.2 miles under great weather conditions, except for a little wind.

We started at Dodger Stadium and toured through LA, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and finished near the Santa Monica Pier.

18 Miles – WOW!

Congratulations to all the students and Leaders who completed the 17th annual 18-Mile  Friendship Run presented by Rebecca and Richard Lewis at Hansen Dam.  Council Member Richard Alarcon started the race under perfect weather conditions, and we were off to run two 9-mile loops in and around Hansen Dam Park, including a 2 mile stretch over the Dam.

Together with Nike-Reuse-A-Shoe, our students, Leaders, and friends also collected almost 500 pairs of shoes through SRLA Cares. These shoes will be turned into Nike Grind, which is used to create new tracks, basketball courts and playground surfaces.

We would also like to thank Professional Nike Athlete and American Steeplechase Record Holder Grace Padilla, who came out to cheer on the students and Leaders, sign autographs and provide inspiration for everyone.
