Streets for People (S4P) is proud to announce the opening of Sunset Triangle Plaza at Griffith Park and Sunset Boulevards in Silver Lake! Come join us for a community celebration as we turn a street for cars into a street for people.

There has been increased demand in the City of Los Angeles for safer and more welcoming streets for residents to play, walk, run, bicycle and relax. Sunset Triangle Plaza offers a destination for people of all ages, backgrounds and physical abilities to sit and rest, visit local business or engage with members of your community in a vibrant public space.

Streets for People is an initiative of The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and the City of Los Angeles Planning Commission, working closely with:

Department of City Planning
Silver Lake Improvement Association (SLIA)
Department of Public Works
Silver Lake Neighborhood Council
Office of Councilmember Eric Garcetti

The City of Los Angeles is proposing a Reusable Bag Policy to prohibit single-use paper and plastic bags, and encourage the use of reusable bags to reduce waste, litter, and our impact on the environment, and protect our quality of life. The City will be hosting two workshops this Saturday, March 10th to discuss the proposed policy:

Discussion with possible action to obtain funding for printing of Emergency Lists.

#1 Train 100 new residents/business people in CERT-list who is already trained
Push for more new trainees
#2 Increase SL handheld radio network from 6 to 30-appeal in your area
#3 Deliver our earthquake plan and supply list to every household and business in Silver Lake. Use other ways besides distributing at the Farmers Market
#4Present the Silver Lake Shakeout on the same day as the great California Shakeout (Thurs 10/18/12).Then start organizing for our local Earthquake Drill.
#5 Build community resilience-discuss & define what this means: include Nancy Klems medicinal and edible plant forage lecture.
