All money raised from the ball will support the British Heart Foundation to fund vital research into the causes, treatment and prevention of heart disease and circulatory problems, and also for research into childrens heart problems and the provision of cardiac care equipment for local hospitals.

The Olympic Flame in Ipswich this July

The Olympic Flame will come to Ipswich on the evening of Thursday 5th July and will form the centrepiece of an entertainment extravaganza set in Christchurch Park. As part of the event, LOCOG (the London Organising Committee of the Olympic & Paralympic Games) and its presenting partners Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung will stage a variety of entertainment shows culminating in a cauldron being lit from the flame itself.
The Olympic Flame arrives in the UK from Greece on 18th May 2012 and a 70-day Torch Relay starts the next day from Land’s End. In total it is expected to travel 8,000 miles before it arrives in the Olympic Stadium in east London on 27th July.
