Crossbar
Introduction
Crossbar is a general purpose interface layer for Whistle, designed to provide connectivity for UI components. Crossbar abstracts many of the Whistle APIs and provides hooks into the rich internal message bus on a higher level than going directly to Whistle. Furthermore it incorporates access to permanent storage.
This layer is intended as a lightweight translation providing high level access to the Whistle platform; however, it is only an example of what can be accomplished using this technology. Use of the Crossbar platform is not required by UI designers who may choose to directly communicate with Whistle or build their own interface layer.
The APIs can be exposed publicly for other applications but will be initially used by WinkStart GUI.
