Celtic-Plus
Towards a Smart Connected World

     
 

Celtic-Plus is an industry-driven European research initiative to define, perform and finance through public and private funding common research projects in the area of telecommunications, new media, future Internet, and applications & services focusing on a new "Smart Connected World" paradigm. Celtic-Plus is a EUREKA ICT cluster and belongs to the inter-governmental EUREKA network.

Celtic-Plus is open to any type of company covering the Celtic-Plus research areas, large industry as well as small companies or universities and research organisations. Even companies outside the EUREKA countries may get some possibilities to join a Celtic-Plus project under certain conditions. For each call Celtic-Plus will offer the opportunity to discuss potential proposals among interested experts either during a commonly organised Proposers Day or via a special discussion platform for new proposals.

Celtic Innovation Award 2012 goes to: WINNER+
For the first time the new Celtic Innovation Award was handed over to a very successful and innovative project WINNER+, which already received the Celtic Gold Award last year. In addition the Celtic Excellence Awards go to:
- Gold Award:      SERVERY
- Silver Award:     OPERA-Net
- Bronze Awards: HNPS

ST Ericsson and Trk Telekom joining Celtic Core Group
At the meeting in Stockholm the Celtic Core Group accepted two new members: ST Ericsson/ Belgium and Trk Telekom. Both new partners have already been active in Celtic projects and they are very motivated to strengthen the future Celtic project portfolio.

Cooperation with European Technology Platforms and other related European activities
Celtic and the following ETP have agreed on a closer cooperation within their Strategic Research Agendas (SRA) and the Celtic work programme. For the time being this cooperation will be assured through observers at the Steering Boards. The SRA of the ETP are also possible work items for Celtic projects.

Celtic-Plus Proposers' Day on 3 July 2012 in Berlin
The next Celtic Proposers' Day will be held on 3rd July 2012 at Hotel Estrel in Berlin. The Proposers' Day provides an important platform to present and discuss new project ideas targeted for submission to the Celtic autumn call (15 October 2012), more information

The Proposers' Day will be organized in conjunction with FuNeMS (Future Networks and Mobile Summit from 4 to 6 July also at Hotel Estrel in Berlin.

2012 KOREA EUREKA Days (21 March in Brussels)

This high-class event will be hosted by the Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE) and the EUREKA Hungarian Chairmanship and will gather 300 guests including Ministerial representatives from Korea and European Countries, the European Commission, members of the EUREKA Network of national Innovation funding agencies, as well as Korean and European large company CTOs and research institute heads.

There will also be a special Matchmaking session on Telecommunications Technologies to discuss potential Celtic-Plus project ideas with Korean partners. Further information and programme.
