The Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station conducts applied research to assist producers and processors of food and fiber, other agribusinesses, families and communities. We also conduct basic research, which adds to the body of knowledge from which future technology is developed.

Arkansas Producers Featured in New USA Rice Federation Video

Jennifer James of Newport and Joe Rennicke of Weiner are featured in a new  USA Rice Federation video sponsored by John Deere. It highlights  studies that measure the economic benefits ($34 billion in annual economic activity; over 128,000 jobs) and environmental achievements of producers over the past 20 years (21 percent decrease in land use; 33 percent reduction in water use; and a 52 percent reduction in energy use).

Head of Oklahoma Agricultural Experiment Station named Arkansas Experiment Station director

University of Arkansas System Vice President for Agriculture Mark Cochran announced today that Clarence E. Watson, currently associate director and chief operating officer of the Oklahoma Agricultural Experiment Station, will be the new director of the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station, effective Jan. 26.

spacer Vegetable soybean company to make Mulberry 'edamame capital' of U.S.

MULBERRY, Ark. -- This Crawford County town was christened the future "edamame capital of the United States" at a Jan. 31 press conference to announce construction of the nation's first plant dedicated to the receiving, processing, packaging and shipping of edamame, or vegetable soybeans, to be grown by Arkansas farmers starting this year. The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is providing technical support for this new Arkansas industry.

spacer New Arkansas Division of Agriculture cotton variety exceeds fiber quality expectations

University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture licenses Seed Sources Genetics in Bishop, Texas, to produce and market non-transgenic seed of a new cotton variety, released as UA222. It is the second variety released by the Division in three years that far exceeds fiber quality expectations of upland cotton varieties adapted to the Mid-South.
