Decreasing airfares at McGhee Tyson Airport are highlighted in the most-recent U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) study of average airfares. According to the study, while US average domestic airfares increased 6.2 percent from reported 2010 third quarter levels, average airfares at McGhee Tyson Airport decreased 3 percent. Only two other airports included in the study had greater airfare decreases than McGhee Tyson Airport.
