As an educator, Kenny Werner has taught his own brand of intermediate and advanced theory at The New School. He has served as artistic director for the Banff Center Jazz Program and as the artist-in-residence at the Berklee School of Music and is currently artist-in-residence at New York University.  In addition, he has taught and lectured in most major universities in the U.S., Europe, Japan, South Korea and Israel.

Kenny has also published several works including the highly acclaimed book Effortless Mastery.  He has also published the following articles: Channeling Music: Organica, Spring 1988, Play for the Right Reasons: Organica, Winter 1990, Hostile Triads – The Piano Stylist & Jazz Workshop, April-May 1991.
