  • DoSomething.org Releases Anti-Bullying Initiative
March 23rd, 2012

The project has been designed by DoSomething.org to promote and support the March 30th release of a documentary film called “Bully,” which captures in graphic detail the significance and implications of bullying. A preview and other details about this film can be found at www.thebullyproject.com.

Their activities surrounding the release of “Bully” are likely to create heightened local interest about bullying and bullying prevention, particularly in school transportation.

Please help prevent bullying, particularly in school transportation. Your interest in the myriad, complex issues and your support of the national student transportation community’s efforts to eradicate bullying will ensure the yellow school bus remains the most effective and efficient way for kids to travel to and from school each day and the bus ride itself is time when ALL students – as well as their parents or other caregivers – are confident they will be treated with courtesy, dignity and respect.

"As college students, families and tour groups start thinking about spring and summer travel, we encourage everyone to use the SaferBus app to look before you book your next bus trip."

  • Secretary LaHood's Love the Bus Blog
February 23rd, 2012

"Love the Bus" celebrations are a terrific opportunity for teachers, school administrators, parents, and students to say a heartfelt "Thank you" to the people who get 26 million kids safely to and from schools in America each day. In fact, of the many ways students get to class across the country--walking, biking, riding in a parent's car, etc.--the familiar yellow school bus is the safest.

That's why it's so important to take a moment to express our respect for the terrific job our school bus companies and mechanics and drivers do.
