Trans Europe Halles (TEH) is a European Network of Independent Cultural Centres that connects pioneering cultural actors of Moscow, Budapest and Belgrade with creative forces in Amsterdam, Helsinki and Berlin – to mention a few.


The network currently has 52 Members and 18 Friend organisations in 29 European countries. Founded in 1983, the network now brings together more than fifty multidisciplinary and socially engaged member centres throughout Europe. Most centres are located in buildings from industrial heritage and have taken important action in challenging the established cultural policy.

Want to reduce your electricity bill?
An effective way of reducing the energy consumption is changing the traditional fluorescent lamps to LED lamps. Kaapelitehdas (Helsinki, Finland) have now changed 500 of them. In comparison - the LED lamp needs no ballast and consumes only 22 watts of power. And it's at least 5 times more durable than the traditional fluorescent lamp.

Debate on the art work "Gypsies and Dogs" at REX
Within the frame of Crossroads East-West and as the part of the project Think about others – think about yourself, supported by Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, Public Administration and Local Self Government, Cultural Centre REX (Belgrade, Serbia) will invite artists, theoreticians, curators, activists and cultural institutions representatives from Belgrade to discuss the art work Gyspsies and Dogs by Zoran Todorović. According to some Roma organizations and activists, the work was produced through obvious violation of children’s rights. The debate will be held on April 27th at REX.

Living Underground workshops and residencies in 2012
Living Underground is a creative laboratory focused on the use of public and cultural space. There will be several residencies between April - November 2012 and two workshops between June - November 2012 at Stanica (Žilina, Slovakia). The aim of the activities is to introduce different approaches to set up (build or renovate) a cultural venue with low-cost building opportunities. The deadlines for participation will be announced soon!
