The historic village of Afton is nestled between wooded river bluffs and a protected scenic river, the lovely St. Croix. Some call Afton "nostalgic, friendly and quaintly charming." Visitors in the mid-1800s were reminded of Robert Burns' poem "Flow Gently, Sweet Afton," and thence came it's name.

Wild flowers, deer, flying geese and songbirds thrive here, along with wild berry bushes left over from Afton’s early berry industry. Afton has much to offer both it’s residents and it’s visitors. Twenty minutes from St. Paul, a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Skiing, boating, apple picking or hiking through the beautiful Afton State Park are just a few of the wonderful activities to enjoy in this lovely village.
