Orange Oil Termite Treatment

These days, many homeowners are looking to find more information about orange oil termite treatment, because it is known to be ecologically friendly and safe for humans and pets. Orange oil termite treatment is a non-toxic alternative to termite tenting / fumigation methods that are traditionally used against California termites.

The orange oil that is used to locally treat termite infestations is made from the active ingredient d-limonene, which is found in orange rinds.

Although this termite treatment method does offer many benefits compared to termite treatment methods that use chemicals or gas, there are also some important facts that should be considered before using this method of termite treatment:

  1. Orange oil can only be used to treat localized areas of the home.
  2. If the termites are located in an area that is difficult or impossible to reach, it may not be feasible to apply the treatment
  3. Treating a large or several infested areas with orange oil can be more costly than fumigation
  4. In order to inject the orange oil, holes must be drilled into the walls
  5. Orange oil treatment is effective for treating drywood termites, but not for subterranean termites

Whether or not the orange oil termite treatment is the right option to control termites in your home should be determined by a professional termite inspector.

In general, if your home is only partially infested by drywood termites and the areas can be easily reached, orange oil termite treatment is a safe and ecological option. Compared to fumigation, it also has the advantage that you don’t have to move out of your home or need to go through the inconvenience of packing your food and belongings in airtight plastic containers or remove your plants while the treatment is taking place.
