Q: db - How did you originally come up with the concept for OneBillionPageviews.com?

A: AJ – It wasn’t a concept that was pre-thought, my best friend challenged me to get a million people on a site and I told him that’s too easy, he said how about a billion then… it all started there.


Q: db - Now you say that your most recent site scored over 200,000 hits the first week. What is the exact website and how many many page views made up the 200,000 hits? How many unique visits/ors made up those hits? What kind of revenue is the website producing?

A: AJ – After the new year, I think we were all inspired by MillionDollarHomePage.com, my spin off was www.thepixelwebsite.com, it was well over 200,000 page views and has now generated about $30,000. When I started that there were a handful of websites doing pixels. Now I think there could be a pixel website just for pixel websites, lol.


Q: db - Is this your first major marketing scheme or is this something that you are experieced in?

A: AJ – To be honest, I have been featured in about 30-40 magazines and newspapers to date. My first major marketing scheme was MajorFm.com, that’s the one that gave me all the publicity. So, I have done this before, but that was UK underground only and some national papers. This is a whole new ball game, I have been doing interviews for the press worldwide! Its definitely a new experience and one I can get used to. =0P


Q: db - Was Alex Tew's major success with "The Million Dollar Homepage" a major influence in your decision to go ahead with this concept?

A: - Yes, I have to admit, by him achieving so much, he has had a influence, I would never have started ThePixelWebsite.com and this bet would never have come about. His success has opened up the eyes of the general public as well, a lot of people are skeptical of the Internet, not believing in it after the dot com crash. There are many avenues to make money on the net and Alex Tew has proved that.


Q: db - What makes you think that you will get one billion page views? That is a lot of page views considering there are only 6 million people on the planet. What are the exact parameters of those terms?

A: AJ – Well because its so hard to achieve the goal and because so many people tell me it cannot be done, I want to do it even more. People should understand, as well, that I already get over 1 million page views a month on my other sites. I could just make a pop up to speed up the process but I don’t want to take the easy route, I want to prove that FREE word of mouth advertising can work if people pull together. It's not just my effort that can make this happen, it’s the effort of everyone spreading the word about www.onebillionpageviews.com I have also set the counter to count only unique ip’s with a cookie time of one hour! There was a recently study that showed in November 2005, there are over 1 billion pc’s that access the internet, based on that study, this can be done, people say “but they are not all English speaking”, it doesn’t matter, you would be surprised how many hits I get from people that can’t speak English. English numbers are all they need to understand. English speaking people are posting on forums explaining the concept and the user can see the numbers on the site.


Q: db - Now, you say that this is all for £1,000? Have you made any additional money from advertisements running on the site? How many donations have you received thus far?

A: AJ – I have only received about $10 in donations. Thank you to those that have donated! Hopefully, the advertising money will cover the cost of hosting the website but I’m actively looking for a big and well known hosting company that can sponsor me for hosing. The more popular this site gets, the more bandwidth it will use, someone told me it could use about 36TB a month. That’s a scary thought.


Q: db - How long do you think it will take you to reach the one billion marker?

A: AJ – That’s a question and a half, I hope to do it within a maximum of 3 years. That means about 750,000 a day! Lol, just shows you how much a billion really is! But you never know, it could even be sooner.


Q: db - Do you plan on shutting the site down, if and when, you reach the one billion page views marker or do you intend on keeping it up thereafter?

A: AJ – I hope never to shut it down, if my sponsor at the time agrees, I will continue it, or maybe even sell it, but I don’t want to see it going offline after all the hard work.


Q: db - You have already been featured in several major newspapers and websites. What are some of the up and coming newspapers and websites you or the site will be featured on?

A: AJ – So far, I have had support from Metro London, The Chronicle, New Nation, Yahoo.com (Yahoo Business News), DavesDaily.com, Face-Pic.com, Pocket-Lint.co.uk, now this one and others. I hope to be featured in The Sun, The Daily Mirror, New York Times & The BBC, those are my current goals.
