What the heck is Dedpop?

Is Dedpop a record label?

No, it's a netlabel. The major difference being that the copyright in all of the music remains with the respective artists. Artists submit releases to us and we create a 'release page' if we like it. The actual music files are hosted by the artists, we simply link to their downloads. This means that the artist retains complete control over their music and it saves us dollars on hosting.

So the music here might be available from other places on the net?

Very possibly. But some of those places suck. That's maybe a bit harsh but... actually no. Some of them really do suck.

Visiting Dedpop is like being stuck in a room with an excited geek going "Hey come and listen to this, it's awesome!" Dedpop can point you at the good stuff. This means you don't get brain-punched by arse-tracks.

Can my music be included on Dedpop?

Maybe. Upload your music to archive.org and send us a link. Whilst you are ultimately responsible for your own music, please don't sample things you're not allowed to. Every time you do that an angel cries.

Who would make the artwork for the release?

Pete makes a lot of it, mostly because he's a control freak designer and he's very funny about type. Some artists make their own, but we reserve the right to pretend the file was corrupt and redo it.
