Our Mission
Casa de los Niños is dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and to the care of children already abused.
From time to time, glaring headlines remind us that child abuse remains a serious issue in Pima County. But child abuse is more than an occasional problem. It takes place every day … in every part of our community. Indeed, the crumbling economy has put more kids in harm’s way than ever before.
Did you know:
- An Arizona child is abused or neglected every two hours?
- An Arizonan is born into poverty every 33 minutes?
- More children die from abuse and neglect than heart disease, asthma, diabetes and cancer combined?
- From October 1, 2007, to September 30, 2008, Pima County authorities investigated 649 cases of documented child abuse? That is more than 50 cases a month, every month of the year.
All these children deserve better, and at Casa de los Niños we are doing all we can to help them. Our programs are designed to (1) help parents prevent child abuse before it takes place and (2) help children who have been victims of abuse or neglect.
Sadly, it’s a full-time job. 24 hours a day. Every day of the year.
