About Me

MARC ROBERTS

“Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life define yourself”

  • Brief Bio: Ever since i was a very small lad i was excited by computer games such as Half Life, Quake and Unreal Tournament watching it over my brothers shoulders when i was given permission by him to watch.  From watching him play, to making his own custom player models and maps i was hooked on wanting to design my own maps. When i was mature enough and had the access to the internet,  i joined into the modding and mapping community of half life and started making bits and bobs in the hammer editor.  I  then joined the Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 community, this is when i took a step into the process of making a fully working and as possible bug free map for the Red Orchestra mapping competition.  My map was included in the official Red Orchestra mapping contest map pack after the competition had ended.  I then moved on from the RO mapping to the Darkest Hour mod for Red Orchestra. Once i joined i was given the job of doing the DH_Brecourt  and DH_Cagny levels, of which i did with the use of historical references collected by me and the researches.
  • My level design ethic has since become more professional as i look for it to be my professional career.  I have built up a lot of knowledge about the work required from a level design   while being in mod teams, using more level design tools, speaking to professional level designer friends and books such as “Theory of Fun for Game Design” by Raph Koster and “Level Design:Concept, Theory, and Practice” by Rudolf Kremers.
