The Greek word “eros” has mistakenly been translated as “love,” a miscue that has misled countless generations. Eros is intense and rapturous passion that may or may not coincide with love, but when it does, the blend can be spectacular. The pursuit of the Erotic cannot be separated from any spiritual striving to which humanity is inclined, because the lodestone of all such striving is beauty, beauty alone and supreme. “Eros is desire aroused by beauty,” is the ancient formula. In the Ronda Moment I realized that even the divine consciousness hungers for its own beauty. By contrast to Porn, which never attains the beautiful flowering of sex, Erotica celebrates that dimension and invokes all the delirious fragrances of that flower.
