About Reading Liberia
Reading Liberia is a collaborative initiative between the WE-CARE Foundation of Liberia and CODE. Reading Liberia is creating and supporting a thinking, literate Liberia by engaging children through reading, writing and learning to improve their lives.
CODE is a Canadian NGO supporting Development through Education for over 50 years (www.codecan.org). WE-CARE Foundation is a Liberian NGO promoting a love of reading and supporting schools and communities by distributing books and establishing libraries since 1992. Reading Liberia also receives expert advisory support from Critical Thinking International (CTI), and IBBY Canada.
Reading Liberia is made possible in part by a financial contribution by the RJL Braydon Charitable Foundation, Ottawa, Canada and by CODE Inc., a global integrator of voter registration and election materials which generate profits to support CODE’s development programs. Reading Liberia also receives expert advisory support from Critical Thinking International (CTI), and IBBY Canada.

Books
Reading-Liberia books are written by Liberian authors and illustrated by Liberian artists. Each title tells a compelling story of contemporary Liberian children and young people.
The books are available in two versions. An original version is meant for students who are confident of their reading skill. A simplified version--identical in format and page numbers--can be read by students of any age with very limited reading ability.
