NonProfit Connect

We are in our fifth year of membership with this valuable resource for the non profit sector of our community. They provide us with training for our board members and our staff.

Deal Bug.com

We have partnered with a new fund raising organization, Deal Bug.  Check out their website and see how your
purchases assist  our athletes.

iGive.com

This is a unique and easy way for you to invest in the mission and programs of the KCK Huggers, Inc. Go to the website www.iGive.com and register either yourself or your business and select the KCK Huggers, Inc. as your choice of a non profit agency. There are over 600 businesses and stores you may order from and a percentage of your purchases are sent our way. This is an excellent opportunity for you to order your office products and supplies, clothing, flowers, and a multitude of other products that you would normally order anyway and help us at the same time. Please contact our office (913) 573-8331 for more detailed information.

KCK Huggers Program Offerings Expand

We are expanding our program offerings to children ages 3-8. The "Young Athletes" program is especially designed to assist with motor skill development, working and playing with others in a controlled environment with activities for their level of development. Please contact our offices for more information (913)573-8331

What the KCK Huggers are about

The KCK Huggers provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with mental disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

We also provide activities and educational opportunities for our clients to be able to participate in social events and outings that otherwise might not be available to them. Day trips for fun and learning are offered on a quarterly basis and more often as possible.

The focus in the KCK Huggers is on what athletes can do. Like everyone, Special Olympics athletes like to win, but more importantly - they strive to do their best. The sportsmanship that is demonstrated on the court, in the field, or on the track serves as an inspiration to all.

Eligible athletes are all children and adults, at least eight years old, with intellectual disabilities, a cognitive delay, or a closely related developmental disability. Eligible athletes have functional limitations in both general learning and in adaptive skills.

KCK Huggers and the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation

The website for the KCK Huggers is now connected to the Donor Edge program of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. This site will allow greater public awareness of the Huggers and provide a source of information and communication with its members.
