Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one of the most sought after martial arts in the world. From professional fighters to military and Law Enforcement, many recognize the effectiveness of the Gracie Jiu Jitsu grappling approach to self defense.

Many parents see the Ricardo Almeida Jiu Jitsu Academy as a way to empower their teens against the bullying and physical aggression that is becoming more and more common in schools.

Though it is true participation in our program will provide your teen with great self-defense skills, our program offers many more benefits beyond simply defending oneself.

 Jiu Jitsu is ideal for children who do not do well in team sports for several reasons.  Perhaps most importantly it gives them the opportunity to experience the physical benefits of sports without the added pressure of “making the team.”  In our academy nobody has to “ride the bench.”  Many parents are also unaware that Jiu Jitsu is actually safer and more closely supervised than most sports.

Children with special needs, such as ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), learning disabilities and hyperactivity are often recommended to participate in martial arts. This is because the structured training methodology allows the kids to learn and excel.

Jiu Jitsu should not be seen as merely an after school activity.  We strongly believe our program changes our students’ lives.
