EMANCIPE+ envisions a world where no cat or dog is ever killed
just for being homeless.
We work towards realizing that vision every day, by providing services and advocacy that effectively and humanely reduce the homeless pet population in our community.
High Volume, High Quality Spay/Neuter
EMANCIPE+ has chosen to advocate for and provide free and low-cost spay/neuter services since day one because we believe it is one of the most efficient and effective methods of reducing the homeless pet population. We provide spay/neuter services throughout the Central Texas area via both mobile and stationary clinics, and serve between 1,200 – 2,000 pets each month. We employ highly skilled veterinary surgeons and veterinary technicians, and our medical protocols exceed the highest standards in veterinary medicine today.
Why do we do it?
In every city in America – large and small, rural and urban – there are good people trying to manage their communities’ population of homeless pets. In almost every single one of these communities, “euthanasia” is utilized as the primary method of reducing the the homeless pet population – meaning more of our nations’ lost and homeless pets are killed than adopted into new homes or returned to their owners. In every case, the killing of these homeless cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies, amounts to nothing more than a temporary answer to the problem – a “Band-Aid” solution. In some ways, it is easier than dealing with the real problem. But ultimately, this method of controlling the pet population is inhumane, ineffective, and unnecessary. Despite the deaths of literally millions of dogs and cats, there are still far too many homeless animals in America; each year, the killing cycle continues. EMANCIPE+ was created to identify and implement effective, humane methods of reducing the homeless pet population and to bring an end to the use of euthanasia as our nation’s “go-to” solution for animal homelessness.
