The
Selfridge Military Air Museum and Air Park, located on Selfridge Air
National Guard Base near Mount Clemens Michigan, is the primary outreach
effort of the Michigan Air Guard Historical Association
The association was formed to preserve the heritage and tradition of the Air National Guard in Michigan and the military units, past and present, headquartered at Selfridge ANG Base and in the surrounding communities. The Association is a private, non-profit organization that was incorporated in the State of Michigan in 1975 and received Internal Revenue Service 501c (3) tax-exempt status in 1976. The Association leases building on Selfridge ANGB for the Museum, aircraft/vehicle restoration, equipment maintenance, reference library, and storage. The lease requires reimbursement to the Federal Government for utilities and services performed by Federal employees. The Selfridge Military Air Museum and the Michigan Air Guard Historical Association receive no Federal or State funding. They are totally dependent on contributions, membership dues, and a small gift shop for operating capital. Most of their sources of revenue are tax-deductible. The Selfridge Military Air
Museum and Air Park is open to the general public from April thru October on
weekends (Saturdays and Sundays), Memorial Day, and Independence Day
from 12:00 noon to 4:30 pm. The Museum and Air Park can be opened at other
times by appointment for groups and/or individuals by contacting the
Museum's Executive Director at 586-239-6768. Cash, checks, and major credit cards are
accepted for admission and Gift Shop purchases.
