The Worthys Festival: Celebrating Life in The Worthys

Welcome to the website of the Worthys Festival 2011; please feel free to use the menu to the left to find out more, download entry forms or contact us.

A Huge THANK YOU to everybody who was involved in whatever way with the Worthys Festival. It has been a great success, and this is down to the great teamwork and effort put into making it a success by so many people around the village.

If you were involved in any way, or just attended some of the events, The Steering Group really would like your FEEDBACK! Please let us know what you enjoyed and what you thought worked well, as well as anything you think we should change if and when we have the next Festival.

You can email your comments to info@2011festival.org.

Finally, everybody is invited to attend the Worthys Festival Annual General Meeting, on Wednesday 9th November at 7.30pm at the Worthies Sports & Social Club. At this meeting we will be deciding if we are going to have another Festival in 2013, and when exactly it will be. We will need new people to come forward to help, so if you have enjoyed this Festival, why not come along and get involved with organising the next? It has been hard work at times, but great fun!

Please let us have your comments before the final meeting of this Festival’s Steering Group, which will be next Wednesday 5th October.

Thank you again, and we look forward to hearing your comments.

Jane Rutter, Chair, Worthys Festival Steering Group

The Worthys Festival is a celebration of life in the Worthys. It involves many different community groups and organisations, and includes events which will appeal to the whole community, old and young, artistic and musical, sporty and sociable.

The Festival is being held over nine days from Saturday 17th September 2011, with venues all over the villages, including Eversley Park, both Churches, Worthies Sports & Social Club, King Charles pub and all community halls and open spaces.

The aim of the Festival is for everybody involved to have fun and to develop and encourage a strong community spirit. In addition, all the organisations and groups taking part are working to increase public awareness of their activities, and encourage new people to join or participate more.

Some local charities and community organisations are using the opportunity to fundraise , but the Festival itself is non-profit making.  Local businesses are supporting the Festival through Sponsorship and advertising in the Programme. Every house in the Worthy villages should by now have received a detailed programme of events, but if you have not received one or would like another copy then copies are available from the KW Parish Council office,St Mary’s Church or the Worthies Sports and Social club.

Local people are being invited to support the Festival by becoming 'Friends of the Festival'.

Whilst the Festival has the support of both Parish Councils, the church and most local organisations in the Worthys, it is fully independent of any one group.

In order that the Festival is seen as an enterprise for the whole community, it is being organised by a steering group of volunteers, under the leadership of local district councillor Jane Rutter.

There are still a lot of openings for local talent to be showcased at the ‘Worthys Got Talent’ event on Sunday 18th September (and tickets are still available from Kings Worthy’s Post Office on London Road); click here for more information.

All meetings are advertised on the village website and are open to all.

Thank you for visiting our site and we hope to see you at the festival.

Can we add a ‘Thank You’ to Winchester Rotary for their help in the ‘Talent’ bar and stewarding of the parade.
