As spring starts to set in activity around the shop has been on the rise. The guys have been comin and goin on trips here and there, and Ross was recently brought in as a full time member of the AWR shop. The weather may be fluctuating pretty rapidly, but don’t let that keep you from comin and and gettin a nice new piece to show off as the warmer months start to roll in.

Jason was down in San Francisco at Seventh Son & in Berkeley at War Horse Tattoo last week working on his Bay Area clientele. Aside from coming down with a little illness he got to see good friends at both shops, as well as at Goorin Brothers’ “Ratback@’cha” presentation of Fate’s new work at the Cassel Gallery.

Here’s a little look at what he was up to while back in The Bay.

We are excited to welcome Ross Carlson to our full time roster. Ross has been working here part time for almost a year, and last week Jason & the guys made the decision to bring him on full time. Along with having one more great tattooer aboard; this also will be bringing a shuffle to all the other guy’s schedules. Ross starts full time on April 9th, and will be making a trip down to Southern California to guest spot at The Dolorosa from April 12th-14th. Keep an eye on the main site, as we will be adding brief bios on all the dudes as well as their schedules.

For schedule or booking inquiries on any of our tattooers feel free to call the shop- (503)477-6190

Another Week At The Shop.

Things are busy around the shop. Portland also had a few much needed warm days this week. With the nice weather, we do our best to take advantage of things outside of the shop. The guys at the
shop have been adding new designs to our Portland flash. And with the 23rd just a few days ago (being a huge success), everybody has been chipping in to keep that flash going strong. We also just recently added Ross Carlson to our full-time roster. So a lot of great stuff is on the horizon. Joel has been busy at work drawing, tattooing, and painting new flash. Here are a few new things he has been up to…
To make an appointment with Joel, call the shop (503.477.6190.) or email him at joelbaca2@gmail.com.

Joe’s son Travis was lucky enough to spend a little bit of his day at the shop with us, and then he was lucky enough to get a nice little “tattoo” from his Pops. Joe slapped on a nice Polynesian style piece on his forearm, and in return Trav gave Joe a cool little water dinosaur on his thigh. Looks like the artistic apple really doesn’t fall too far from the tree. The snow day really payed off for Travis.

Ink- Office Web Apps

A few months back a commercial was filmed at the shop for Microsoft. On the day of filming we shut down the shop, as we were jammed pack with the film crew and actors, but seeing the final product makes it worth it. We just found out this morning that the commercial is up and running on YouTube. Go check it out!

While the boss is in the Bay Area (and Jeff in NYC) we have been taking advantage of the freedom to listen to some Wu-Tang. Enter The Wu-Tang 36 Chambers has been in regular rotation, and some of us are more stoked on it than others. One of our shop guys loves The Wu, and had Ross tattoo the late great Ol’ Dirty Bastard a while back. Here it is.

While a couple of the guys are away on business, Joe’s been keeping the shop plenty busy. A couple of tastefully framed animal portraits, and a new polynesian piece are just a few of the things Joe has been working on this week. All of these pieces pictured are fresh off table and done by Joe.

Many people around the world come to us at Art Work Rebels for the quality tattoos that we put out on the regular, that is expected. The icing on the cake though, is the bevy of well groomed men that tirelessly toil in the shop. There’s a couple of great barbers that always treat us right, and we wanna share the secret to all the other gentlemen out there lookin to whip that perm into shape.

On the westside we have Antonio’s Barbershop, located on 1633 NW Glisan and just a few blocks down from us. On the eastside there’s Augustus’s Oak Barbershop, located on 833 Southeast Main Street. Treat yourself right and give these guys a visit.
