Is Florida Only For The Retired

Most people think of Florida as the land of the aged and infirmed. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Only 17.5 of Florida-s population is over 65 years old; less than many other states. The population of people over 65 has decreased since 2000 by “0.1.

In 2010, 14 million people were under the age of 40. The total population of Florida is 18,801,310 as of April 2011. Many work jobs in the hi-tech fields, and Florida is gaining a reputation as a leader in innovative technology.

The quality of life in Florida is very high.Didn-t catch that? This explains it. The weather is an attraction, and the beautiful beaches are simply refreshing. Florida cost of living is the 35th lowest in the U. S., and the low cost is attributable to a lack of income tax, low sales tax, low property tax, lower food costs, and a lower fuel tax. Every type of property can be found to rent or purchase in every price category.

Florida has an abundance of restaurants offering reasonably priced menus. The beach areas are dotted with open air restaurants where families can eat and watch the surfers or the sunset. The population is family oriented and the facilities for children are excellent. Civic groups have created every little league play activity imaginable. Florida is a great state to raise children in because of the diversity of life as displayed in the many theme parks, and life found in the oceans. Life is more relaxed and people seem to get as much accomplished as people in other states, but with a lot less stress. The favorable climate throughout the year encourages more healthy outdoor activity and a healthier lifestyle.

Many cultural activities can be found in the larger cities, and some well-known performers visit the larger cities and parks.
