Social Break – the innovative & fun way to check Twitter.

Social Break is the unique & innovative new game for iPhone which melds addictive, retro-arcade gameplay with the social network giant, Twitter – allowing you to be socially unsocial in your downtime.

Created by London-based independent game developers, Wicked Little Games, Social Break is already making headlines with the tech savvy, TheNextWeb reporting that the game “doesn’t stop being fun” and commenting that “this is the perfect app to play during any of your idle time”.

The magic of Social Break is the star-decorated Twitter blocks which, when hit, cause a recent tweet from your timeline to appear. The gameplay is reminiscent of the arcade classic, Breakout, and will keep you on your toes with a wide variety of positive and negative powerups – including double points, bigger paddle and reverse controls. There are also options to tweak the number of tweets shown and for how long, to suit your social reading habits.

iOS5-powered Game Center & Twitter integration means it is easy to compete with your friends or followers around the world.

Social Break is a brand new way of interacting with your Twitter timeline and is undoubtably the most fun. Now you will no longer have to make the tough coffee-break choice: play a game or be social?

Social Break is now available on the App Store. Social Break Lite is FREE on the App Store right now.

Game Release: Wicked Little Devil (iPhone)

I recently released my first iPhone game – Wicked Little Devil. Check out my more “official” sounding press release below. I will be following this announcement post with a blog all about how I built, released and maintained the game.

From London-based Indie game developers, Wicked Little Games, comes the epic platforming adventure WICKED LITTLE DEVIL.

Help Sammael, The Angel of Hell, escape from the underworld in this new and exciting game from Wicked Little Games. Using your reactions and a collection of powerups, Sam will travel through earth, sea and sky as he tries to break free. Each complete with a unique graphical style and catchy tunes.

Once you’re free of the underworld, compete in challenge mode as you race against a growing pit of lava to survive as long as possible. Once you’ve attempted to jump from the depths of Hell, compare your scores globally with two dedicated Game Center leaderboards. Check out the latest game trailer over at Youtube and follow further development progress on Twitter and Facebook.

Developed by a two person team, Wicked Little Devil is the first of many games coming out of the Wicked Little Games studio production line.

Simple Cocos2D Collision Detection

I’m currently developing an iPhone game (watch this space…*) and required a very simple collision detection system. My application is pretty simple and doesn’t require any complex collision engines included in the likes of Chipmunk or Box2d, however, after trawling around the internet for a good few hours looking for a way to do it with the basic cocos2d framework, I decided to write my own method.

*I did release a game – two infact: Wicked Little Devil and Social Break
