The Ball

The ball has been specifically designed to be larger and lighter than a standard hockey ball, and suitable for use on a variety of surfaces (including playground, tarmac, artificial grass pitch and sports hall).

The Sticks

Specially designed Quicksticks hockey sticks are available in 3 sizes: 30”, 32” and 34”. All sticks are wooden, colour coded by size (yellow, black and blue), and feature artwork on the grip and on the open side face (green) to aid the delivery of the game. spacer

The Goals

The Quicksticks goals have been specifically designed at 8ft wide x 2 ft tall, so that schools can use existing Samba Football goals. The goals are lightweight and provide young people with a large target in which to shoot at and therefore a higher success rate in scoring goals.

Do we need to buy specialist equipment in order to play Quicksticks?

No, you don’t! Existing hockey sticks and ball can be used for Quicksticks although the specific Quicksticks equipment has been developed especially for the game and will aid the delivery of Quicksticks.

Supporting Resources

A Curriculum Resource Book and 49 Challenge Cards have been produced to aid with the delivery of Quicksticks. The Challenge cards are waterproof and are designed to enable the teacher/coach to deliver Quicksticks in gradual stages starting with core skills such as dribbling with the ball. The front of the card gives a written explanation and illustration of the challenge to be carried out and the back of the card gives more information for teachers/coaches.

The supporting Curriculum Resource Book includes 24 weeks of lesson plans (six weeks each for years 3, 4, 5 and 6).
