Board Members

Michael Begun
spacer Michael is co-founder of CM Capital, a pioneer in the Australian venture capital community, and is one of the leading IT & telecommunications private equity investors in Australia. He has over 25 years of senior telecommunications experience in both the U.S. and Australian commercial markets. In 1981 he co-founded Technology Concepts Inc., builder of the first full implementation ‘Signaling System No.7′ used in the Intelligent Network deployed by the Regional Bell Operating Companies throughout the U.S. The company was acquired by Bell Atlantic in 1986.Following the acquisition, Begun worked on business development transactions for Bell Atlantic International in the Asia Pacific region and became founding CEO of Pacific Star, a JV between Bell Atlantic and Telecom NZ. Under his leadership annual company revenues grew to $250m in 3 years. Mr. Begun founded venture capital firm, CM Capital, in 1998.

Michael Chin

spacer Michael is president and CEO of Mantara, Inc. and brings over 20 years of experience in financial trading and capital markets to the position. Prior to Mantara he spent nine years in executive roles at TradingScreen, Inc., most recently serving as president and global head of sales and a member of the board of directors. While at TradingScreen, Chin built and oversaw the global sales, marketing and client services functions.Earlier, Mr. Chin spent 13 years at JP Morgan and served as head of JP Morgan Investment Management’s Fixed-Income Trading Group immediately prior to joining TradingScreen. During his tenure at JP Morgan, Chin held a series of regional and global trading and management positions, operating from New York, London, Tokyo and Singapore, including head of FX options trading and marketing for North America, business manager for FX derivatives for Asia/Pacific, and global business manager for JP Morgan’s energy derivatives business.

Bob Christiansen

spacer Bob is a founding managing director of Southern Cross Venture Partners, and earlier spent eight years as a general partner and member of the investment committee of Allen & Buckeridge. Mr. Christiansen has more than 30 years of experience in computer services, software and technology with large global and small entrepreneurial companies primarily in the U.S. and Europe. He spent seven years in senior operations and technology roles with Automatic Data Processing Inc.(ADP) in Europe and the U.S. Later he helped found two U.S.-based technology companies, including Corbel & Co, which grew from a software start-up to a leading provider of computer and related services for the U.S. employee benefits industry.Corbel & Co. was successfully sold to NASDAQ-listed, Broadway & Seymour Inc. in 1993. Later Christiansen acted as chief technology officer for the Advisor Technology Services Division of Fidelity Investments in Boston, the world’s largest mutual fund company. He also currently serves as director of the Queensland Government-supported technology incubator iLab.

Bruce Fram

spacer Bruce is an ‘Executive in Residence’ at MDV (Mohr Davidow Ventures) developing early-stage companies in Software as a service (SAAS) and infrastructure. He was the founder and CEO of Luminate Software, a provider of application management products and a pioneer in delivering software as a service. Luminate was sold to EMC in 2001.In 2004, Fram led the $275m private equity buyout of Network General Corporation from McAfee and served as its CEO. Earlier in his career, he held R&D, marketing and sales positions at Network General, Hewlett-Packard and American Management Systems.

Richard Schenkman

Richard has over 25 years of experience pioneering efforts to utilize technology for equity trading. He manages a private entity that advises various industry-related technology companies, exchanges and brokerage firms, and serves on private equity and non-profit boards. In 1984 he joined Instinet, the first electronic trading vehicle, leading to its emergence as the major force transforming global equity trading-by providing an electronic trading platform to institutions to improve performance on their investors’ behalf.Mr. Schenkman was instrumental in architecting Instinet’s order management system and after 15 years in senior positions, including chief operating officer, he was appointed to CEO and managing partner of Brut LLC, an ATS and ECN for U.S. Equities. Under his leadership, revenue and market share tripled and he later led the team that sold Brut to SunGard Data Systems, in 2002.

Jim Smith

spacer Jim is a general partner at MDV (Mohr Davidow Ventures) and leads investments in software and systems companies. He is also active in extending MDV’s relationships with leading universities and research centers.
Prior to MDV, Jim spent six years developing computing architectures and integrated circuits for high-performance multimedia systems at Silicon Graphics, Inc. He has authored and refereed numerous papers on computing systems and circuit design and spent three years as a researcher in the Computer Systems Laboratory at Stanford University.

Charlie Susi

spacer Charlie is an MD at UBS Investment Bank and heads the firm’s institutional equities electronic trading business. Serving as the Americas head of Direct Execution, he oversees internal and client-facing trading and analytical products as well as UBS’s cash equities’ FIX connectivity strategy. Susi is responsible for day-to-day operations and the growth of UBS’s electronic trading business in the US and for its Direct Execution offering in Canada and Latin America.Joining UBS in 2006, Mr. Susi oversaw product management for the US, ultimately expanding his role as he grew the advanced platforms’ global footprint. Prior to UBS, Susi spent over 15 years in pioneering roles in electronic trading and technology, on both the buy and sell side for industry leaders such as Fidelity, Lehman Brothers, Instinet Corp., and Island ECN.
