One of the most frequently asked questions I get asked by readers is “why Screwed Up Texan?” Simply put, Fresh Confessions of a Screwed Up Texan was founded in 2008 shortly after the passing of my sister, Shelly, and is a play off the title of a never published book that we often joked about titling, Confessions of a Screwed Up Family. So in effect, Fresh Confessions of a Screwed Up Texan is a tribute to my sister, but since she was from Oklahoma and I am from Texas, “Texan” just seemed more appropriate. Plus I thought more people would interested in reading a blog about a Texan than a woman from Oklahoma. Except there’s that whole Pioneer Woman thing. Next time I’ll do some research.

At Screwed Up Texan, you’ll find lots to keep your curiosity peaked. From easy, down-home, and frugal recipes to humorous real life stories on parenting, trips to the Walmart, and my husband’s Mother Trucker (yes, she is a trucker) there’s plenty to keep you entertained. Plus, I do reviews and giveaways–always in my unique style.

You’ll find that I’m open to conversation and that I usually answer emails even though I am the mother of three boys roughly one year apart. My house is never clean, but that’s okay because I still feel weird bringing internet people over to my home. Although you’re likely never going to come to my home for a fabulous party, I do usually hang out at local Tweet Ups and Walmart. Except the Ghetto-Mart on Main Street, because the Wicked Witch of Walmart (evil greeter) hangs out there.
