For a limited time, Edgewood will match any PSE business rebate, distributing up to $15,000 city-wide to businesses. With the two programs together, you may receive rebates for up to 100% of the total project cost (maximum of $1,500 per business from Edgewood).

Puget Sound Energy Rebates

Puget Sound Energy offers a variety of rebates to help your business benefit from energy-saving opportunities in lighting, heating and cooling, equipment, and water heating:

  • Lighting upgrades to more efficient bulbs, lighting systems, and exit signs.

  • Heating and cooling equipment upgrades and services, including boiler tune-ups, premium HVAC maintenance, programmable thermostats, and more efficient HVAC equipment.

  •  Efficient appliances and equipment, such as refrigerators and freezers, commercial clothes washers and kitchen equipment.

  • Custom PSE grants can fund up to 70% of the installed cost for other projects that increase the energy-efficiency of business equipment, such as energy retrofits and upgrades, new construction, and facility expansion.

PSE also offers rebates to save money and energy at your home.

How the Energy $mart Rebate Program Works

Step 1. Choose your business energy efficiency project

Choose an energy efficiency project or equipment eligible for PSE business rebates to meet your business’s need. Click here for a list of PSE’s current rebates and approved energy-efficient equipment.

  • Energy $mart will match 100% of PSE’s rebates for a maximum of $1,500 per business on all projects except lighting rebates.

  •  For lighting rebate projects, Energy $mart will match 100% of PSE’s rebate for a maximum of $500 per business.

  • Note that when combined, PSE and Energy $mart rebates cannot exceed project cost.

Step 2. Submit application materials for pre-authorization

Edgewood will guarantee funds for any rebate that the Energy $mart program pre-authorizes. The City will pre-authorize projects in the order applications are received. Here’s how to apply:

For rebates that require PSE pre-authorization (most lighting and HVAC projects)
Complete and submit all application materials required by PSE to both PSE and the City of Edgewood. Also complete and submit the Energy $mart rebate application  to Edgewood. Edgewood will pre-authorize your rebate after PSE pre-approves your project.

For equipment rebates where PSE provides a list of approved products (such as for commercial kitchen equipment, refrigerators and freezers, and clothes washers)

  • Make sure your equipment is eligible for a PSE rebate. For a list of approved products, go to www.pse.com/SOLUTIONS/FORBUSINESS/Pages/comRebates.aspx.

  • Complete and submit the Energy $mart rebate application to the City of Edgewood.

For all other rebates
Edgewood cannot pre-authorize rebates but will fund an Energy $mart rebate if PSE pays you a rebate for the project and if Energy $mart funds remain. Complete your project, then in Step 4 submit the Energy $mart rebate application to the City of Edgewood and submit all application materials required by PSE to both PSE and Edgewood.

Application packages should be emailed to eric@cityofedgewood.org. Please attach a copy of the Energy $mart business rebate application with a legible signature by the business owner or manager. For help with completing and submitting your application package, contact Eric Phillips, Edgewood’s Community Development Director, at 253.952.3299 or eric@cityofedgewood.org.

Eric Phillips will work with you and PSE to review and verify your application. All projects must be eligible for PSE rebates to receive Energy $mart rebates. Rebates are guaranteed only on pre-authorized projects and only if projects are completed or equipment is purchased within 90 days of receiving approval.

Step 3. Complete your project

All installations must be completed within 90 days of receiving approval.

Step 4. Submit completion paperwork and receive your rebates

To receive both your PSE and Energy $mart rebates, submit PSE’s rebate completion paperwork and application materials (with receipts and invoices) to both PSE and the City of Edgewood.

  • For rebates that require PSE pre-authorization
Once PSE confirms installation, approves the completion paperwork, and releases its rebate, Edgewood will also send you your Energy $mart rebate payment

  • For equipment rebates where PSE provides a list of approved products
After Edgewood reviews your application and confirms product installation, the City will send you your Energy $mart rebate payment.

  • For all other rebates
Also submit the Energy $mart rebate application to the City of Edgewood.

If Energy $mart funds remain, once PSE approves your project and releases its rebate, Edgewood will also send you your Energy $mart rebate payment.

Eligibility requirements for Edgewood’s Energy $mart Rebates

  • Businesses receiving rebates must be located within the Edgewood city limits and possess a current business license from the City of Edgewood.

  • Swimming pools, gambling establishments, aquariums, zoos or golf courses are not eligible (due to federal funding requirements).

  • Projects must be eligible for PSE business rebates.

  • Funding is limited, so we recommend that you apply for an Energy $mart rebate right away.
