idek.net is a url shortener, you have a long url, we have some short ones to spare. Sounds like a fair trade.

There's a lot more to it than though, you want metrics and analytics for your urls. Who's clicking, when? Why? The answers may seem hard to come by, but that's just because you haven't started using idek yet. So let's get to it.

Features

There are a lot of features in idek, below we've outlines some of the most important ones that you won't want to miss.

Simplicity

This is first and foremost. idek is easy to use, you don't even need an account to do anything.
But don't think easy means simple. idek has everything you need to manage your urls, so read on to see the value.

Bookmarks

To keep things easy we've created a few quick little bookmarks you can drag to your URL bar. You can quickly create and idek link or even tweet something (using Twitter) directly from any webpage with these bookmarks. Check out the time-saving bookmarks now!

Metrics

We track metrics for every idek url that you create. Every click, even every time the idek url is tweeted, we catch it. You can view the metrics for any idek by adding /s (e.g. idek.net/HA/s) onto the end of your idek url. Just use the idek link normally, but add the /s when you want to see the metrics. Check out some sample metrics for an example.

What kind of metrics, how about these:
  • Total Number of Clicks
  • Clicks per - minute, hour, and day
  • Clicks by Hour of Day
  • Clicks by Day of Week
  • Clicks by Calendar Day
  • Number of tweets
  • Number of tweets of url translated to other popular shortening services
  • Number of tweets of the destination url
  • More metrics being added all the time

Integration with the Wordpress

There is an idek plugin for wordpress. This plugin automatically tweets and idek link to new blog posts for you.

301 Redirects

What? 30-huh? Yea, ok, I know it's technical, but this basically means that if some one puts an idek link to your site on their site, you'll still get all the SEO benefits of it. It will be as if they had actually put a link to your site directly into their site. More links to your site is good, trust me. Want to learn more? Check out How idek uses 301 redirects on youtube.

Tweet Straight From idek

You can quickly shorten urls and post them to twitter if you are logged into idek, saving you time and the frustration of all the copying and pasting.

API

idek.net allows you to easily create or resolve shortened urls from within any application. Don't bother with screen scraping or other complicated methods. Just use our API. Please read about our api and use it today!

Easy Access

Probably one of the best reasons to use idek is that you can do what you need to do with it. If there is something you can't do, just send me a message on twitter (@covati) and I'll get you sorted out. idek has been built to support it's users, you are what makes it successful, and you are who we strive to please.
