Competition Guidelines

Who can apply?

If you are a pole dancer interested in competing, please read the information below as it applies to all USPDF competitions unless stated otherwise.

Prior each competition, USPDF lists the dates in which applications and submission videos are accepted. If no dates are listed on the website, no competition is in progress.

The best way to be notified regarding competitions/application deadlines is to sign up as a registered user and opt- in for the newsletter.

Qualifications:

  • Must be female citizen of the US or a valid Green Card holder
  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Submit a completed application (see info below) in the body of an email along with link to a public Youtube or Facebook video titled “USPDF Amateur 2012″. NO attachments accepted

Email Application must state following in order (copy and paste):

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Address, City, Zip
  • Contact Number
  • Email address
  • DOB
  • Studio Affiliation
  • Years of pole dance experience
  • URL address to your public Youtube or Facebook video
  • Email your application to USPDF. Write “USPDF Amateur 2012″ in subject line.

Submission video must:

  • Be a minimum of 2-3 min unedited. If you’re video is longer, please specify time code USPDF should begin/end watching.
  • Be submitted online either through YouTube or Facebook. Video attachments in emails are not accepted.
  • Be set to “Public” on Youtube or Facebook. “Unlisted” or “private” links are not accepted.
  • Be titled “USPDF Amateur 2012″
  • Have good, adequate lighting. Videos where applicants full body is not visible throughout the routine are not accepted
  • Be recorded and uploaded in the way it plays on screen. Videos where computer screen has to be turned sideways are not accepted.
  • Have music. USPDF takes musicality into consideration when picking a finalist.
  • Video must be submitted between the dates specified on the website in order to be approved by USPDF.
  • Application fee is $45 per submission and has to be paid between the dates specified on the website in order to be considered. Click here to pay application fee.

Who is Selected:

  • USPDF selects all finalists based on their submission video regardless of previous submissions and competition background.
  • USPDF selects finalists based on the same elements the judges will look for in the competition: technique, transition, coordination, creativity, individuality, flexibility, strength, extensions, consistency, dynamics, dancing and performance.
  • USPDF selects finalists who are well-rounded pole dancers mastering the pole and the floor, and seamlessly transition in between.

What happens if I am selected as a USPDF finalist?

Finalists:

  • Will be notified within 7 days after the submission deadline
  • Will receive a ‘Finalist Package’ where all the information in regards to the competition, such as routines, scores of the routine, rules and regulations, and how to prepare, are included

Amateur Rounds:
USPDF competitions format consists of two rounds: the compulsory routine, and optional routine.

Amateur Compulsory Routine (Max score 10.0)
Choreograph and perform a 60-90 sec routine including required moves that are specifically demonstrated and given by the USPDF. Finalists cannot alter required moves, only the order in which they are performed in a routine.

  • 20 sec of continuous floor work
  • 2 separate spins: Spin 1spacer Spin 2spacer
  • 1 upright static posespacer
  • 1 inversionspacer
  • 1 inner thigh holdspacer
  • 1 splitspacer

Amateur Optional Round (Max score 10.0):
3-5 minute choreographed routine with no required elements.

Pro Rounds:
USPDF competitions format consists of two rounds: the compulsory routine, and optional routine.

Pro Compulsory Routine (Max score 10.0)
Choreograph and perform a 60-90 sec routine including required moves that are specifically demonstrated and given by the USPDF. Finalists cannot alter required moves, only the order in which they are performed in a routine.

  • 20 sec of continuous floor work
  • 1 spin spacer
  • full-turn (pirouette) spacer
  • 1 spinning inversion spacer
  • 1 handstand on polespacer
  • 1 splitspacer
  • 30 sec min on spinning pole

Pro Optional Round (Max score 10.0)
3-5 minute choreographed routine with no required elements expected. Requirements have to be held a minimum of 3 seconds unless stated otherwise.

Dress Code:
Violation of dress code requirement leads to immediate disqualification.

  • No nudity
  • No G-strings, thongs, or tassels
  • Intimate body parts have to be covered up
  • No boots
  • No visible logos

Compulsory round

  • Min 5” heel, hot shorts and sports bra. No costumes.

Optional round

  • Barefoot or heels
  • Costumes are acceptable
  • Props need to be approved by USPDF

You will need a tracksuit, sweat suit or warm up suit for awards ceremony.

Music:
No vulgar music, radio edits only

USPDF Judging regulations:
Judges take following elements into consideration when determine the scores for rounds

  • Transitions and technique
  • Execution of tricks
  • Originality of choreography
  • Flexibility and extensions
  • Individual style and aesthetics
  • Consistency of routine and performance
  • Musicality
  • Under/Over time
  • Overall performance

Competitors will be marked down if they don’t follow the dress code, as well as if they go under/over time.

Competitors will be disqualified for:

  • Nudity or other dress code violation
  • Music violation
  • Talking to the crowd or using vulgar language
  • Showing any misconduct that will or could damage the reputation of USPDF
  • USPDF also ask you not to bring back-up dancers, or any other person on stage with you as you perform your routines as such violation leads to disqualification.

Who wins the competition?

  • Each round is worth a maximum of 10.0 points. The final score is the combination of the two rounds. The competitors who score the highest combined score of the compulsory round and optional round wins.
  • Prize varies for each competition

 

Film and Photography:
All photography and recording of USPDF events and competitions are strictly prohibited by USPDF, LLC. All photography and footage at the USPDF events and competitions remain the property of USPDF, LLC. The competitors have no right to compensation for photography and other footage made before, during and after the competitions. The competitors explicitly and irrevocably agree that USPDF, LLC can use all footage and photography for promotional, advertising and commercial purposes.

 

FAILURE TO ABIDE BY THE ABOVE MENTIONED RULES WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION.

      A America do Sul tem ótimas atletas, porém não tem oportunidade de participar do campeonato.

        South America does have wonderful performers, but we just choose to focus on performers from the United States for our particular competitions.
