Thacher School / Start-Finish

Just yards from your first major climb up Horn Canyon, our Start/Finish on the utility field at Thacher School will serve as our “headquarters” for the weekend.  You’ll access that field by hiking about 1/8 of a mile from the parking area on campus.  That Sunday, the Thacher students will be returning from their Spring Break, but our movements while on Thacher property will still be restricted to just the parking area and the utility field.  Thacher is a fairly private community, and they’re particularly sensitive to non-residents roaming the grounds.  You’ll have enough entertainment in our confined space, anyway.  Bring lawn chairs and cheering paraphernalia!!

Ur-Select K1 ready to attack the course

Their athletic field offers sufficient space for our support tents and your camping tents; finish line brunch hosted by the Thacher School kitchen; portapots nearby; Wild Bill’s shower on hand post-run; and sufficient space to both just lie on your back and watch the sky roll by, as well as suffer through the boring “who gets what obnoxious award for stellar performance or spurious behavior” ceremony after Sunday’s brunch.

Follow this link to the Thacher campus map (pdf link on this page): www.thacher.org/ftpimages/148/download/Thacher%20Campus%20Map2.pdf Our activities will be restricted to the area on the southeast portion of the map, from the Entrance, along the gray areas noted for Parking, then out the road to the Athletic Field.  The Horn Canyon T/H is just above where the road exits the map.

Donations to Thacher School

Your entry already includes contribution to Thacher, anticipating that we’ll write them a check for around $1000 as we close down operations on Sunday. If you wish to donate more, please include that amount with your entry and indicate the amount specifically donated; or, feel free to donate privately/separately under another cover.
