About Chrome47

Chrome47 is based on the philosophy of making things that make sense. When you see a Chrome47 logo, you should say, “Aha!” A Chrome47 website should make you instinctively say, “I get it!”

Chrome47 is run by Brad Blackman, a designer with over a decade of experience in print and front-end web design, largely in business-to-business marketing for the publishing and healthcare arenas in Nashville, Tennessee.

spacer I believe in the essence of visual and information design: combining seemingly unrelated things by using tools such as images and typography to convey a specific message. My two main design philosophies are ‘communicate, don’t decorate’ and ‘delight and inform.’ This gives me a certain incentive to produce the most effective work possible.

What does “Chrome47″ mean?

Nope, it’s not code for anything. It’s just a handle that I (Brad Blackman) used on various websites here and there way back in the day.

spacer The “chrome” part comes from the title of William Gibson’s collection of short stories, Burning Chrome. I’m a bit of a cyberpunk, post-cyberpunk, and sci-fi fan.

spacer The number 47 is supposedly the “quintessential” random number. There’s even a 47 Society dedicated to the mystery. The number is significant on the TV show “Alias.” Told ya I liked sci-fi.

Working with the Chrome47 Process

  • spacer

    Step 1: Research & Discovery

First of all, we have to get to know each other, and find out all about what you do and want your site, logo, or what have you to accomplish.
  • spacer

    Step 2: Wireframes & Composites

After spending time with a pen and sketchbook, about three ideas will be roughed out as visual composites or site wireframes to establish basic concepts.
  • spacer

    Step 3: Refine the Design

Once a wireframe or composite is approved, the design is refined and developed, being revised as needed. Three rounds of revisions is usually sufficient.
  • spacer

    Step 4: Deliver & Follow-up

Final files are sent upon receipt of final payment, thus closing the project. However, it’s good to follow up and make sure the end product works as advertised!

“I’ve worked with Brad several times over the last couple of years and he is an excellent designer. He always seems to get the look I’m going for after just a conversation. Brad is always professional, meets my deadlines and gives me and my church a quality product. If you are looking for excellence, Brad is your man.”

— James Henley, Skillman Church of Christ
