Clinging To The Trees of a Forest Fire

Denver, Colorado’s CLINGING TO THE TREES OF A FOREST FIRE formed in 2006 and have since unleashed their own brand of “funeral grind” on the metal masses. The band’s sound has been described as “too slow for grindcore, too fast for doom,” and has been compared to the musical styles of Brutal Truth, Pig Destroyer, Discordance Axis, EyeHateGod and Napalm Death. The band released an EP (“Harmonies From Bleeding Mouths”) in 2006 and their first full-length, “Omega Drunk On The Blood Of Alpha,” in 2008 on Debello Recordings. (more…)

MUTILATION RITES ANNOUNCE NEW MIDWEST TOUR DATES

Brooklyn-based black metal band MUTILATION RITES will soon head out for another round of touring, this time hitting the midwest. The tour will start April 19 in Pittsburgh, PA and conclude on May 5 in Cleveland, OH.

The self-proclaimed “filthy black metal” quartet will be touring in advance of the release of their debut full-length, “Empyrean.” Due May 22, the album — which features the song “Realms of Dementia,” which Pitchfork recently premiered — was produced by Kevin Bernsten (TRIAC) at Developing Nations in Baltimore, MD. A pre-order bundle consisting of the CD and t-shirt featuring the album’s cover art is available at the Prosthetic Store HERE.

Founded in 2009 by Justin Ennis (drums, ex-Tombs) and Michael Dimmitt (guitars), and now featuring bassist Ryan Jones (Today Is The Day), MUTILATION RITES just completed a run of dates that saw the group tour their way to and from South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. There, the band played parties for Brooklyn Vegan and Pitchfork’s Show No Mercy in addition to performing at Prosthetic’s official label showcase. Houston, TX based progressive instrumental act, SCALE THE SUMMIT, are proud to announce their upcoming 2012 headlining tour entitled, “Adventure Metal Across America”. It will be a two band tour in which they will receive direct support from Today I Caught The Plague. This tour will be the second headlining tour for SCALE THE SUMMIT and will start on May 5th and continue throughout June 6th.

Guitarist Chris Letchford commented on the tour: “There’s been a lot going on in the Scale The Summit camp since we got home from our first headlining tour! First I’m very excited announce our new “Adventure Metal Across America Tour”! It’s our second headlining tour this year for “The Collective”, hitting a lot of the cities we missed on the first one. For those of you who came out to the first one, we’ll be mixing up our entire 80 minute set with different songs! We’re really excited to be bringing out Today I Caught The Plague, great progressive band from Toronto, currently out on the road with our buddies in Protest The Hero and Periphery!”

Along with the new tour, the band is announcing the departure of bassist, Jordan Eberhardt.
Letchford commented: “Jordan decided earlier in the year he no longer wanted to tour full time so we have decided to part ways. We have had great luck having all original members for the past 3 full lengths and over 6 years! We wish him the best!”

SCALE THE SUMMIT has announced Mark Michell (Tetrafusion) as the new bassist, Letchford stated: “We are really excited to see what Mark brings to the band! So far our first rehearsal went great!” Mark’s debut show will be is April 21st in Bridgeport, CT for the Fauxchella Fest at Gallery 305K.
In addition, SCALE THE SUMMIT has uploaded a play through video featuring Michell for the single, ‘Giants’ off of their 2009 release, “Carving Desert Canyons”. Letchford states this song is the “hardest and longest song” off of that album. To get a taste of Michell’s playing, the play through video will be featured on the SCALE THE SUMMIT YouTube channel.

LANDMINE MARATHON announce dates with Nasum

Phoenix grindcore act added to Farewell Tour

Phoenix-based grindcore act, LANDMINE MARATHON has been announced on select California dates to open for Nasum’s upcoming Farewell Tour. The band will be playing three shows starting on May 28th and concluding on May 30th. The band will be supporting their latest release, “Gallows”.which came out in September in North America and in January in Europe. “Gallows” was produced by guitarist Ryan Butler and features artwork by British artist Rob “Mid” Middleton (Napalm Death, Extreme Noise Terror). It earned “album of the month” honors in Terrorizer, who praised the band’s “killer riffs, righteous anger and a burning desire to fuck shit up.” A video for that album’s “Beaten and Left Blind” can be viewed below.
