Meedio Essentials Guide For Your Home Theater PC - Part II
Since the introduction of Meedio Essentials I have put Build a Home Theater PC - Part II on hold. Meedio Essentials is developed by the same people that made the application myHTPC. Meedio Essentials is still going through a few growing pains but has a good solid foundation from which to build upon. It is very configurable and with the 3rd party plug-ins that are being made almost on a daily basis, this gives Meedio almost unlimited possibilities for any Home Theater System. Read More... |

Plextor PX-708A DVDRW/DVDR Drive Review
The Plextor PX-708A offers multiformat support and is marketed as one of the first drives to burn DVD+R at 8X, burning over 4gb of data in just over 8 minutes. Its other recording capabilities include DVD+RW at 4X, DVD-R at 4X, DVD-RW at 2X, CD-R at 40X and CD-RW at 24X. This review is more or less a freebie for Plextor because they can't afford to give away this drive for the review. Instead they offered this drive at a discounted price. Which I have no idea what that discount will be. With that fact known, this review will not be affected by their marketing practice. But it will affect my decision on choosing which manufacturer to purchase optical products from, it won't be Plextor. Read More... |

Do you LAN Party? Do you rearrange your workspace every other day? Are you like me in the respect that I'm taking the Lab Rat off the workbench and then throwing it back on it with such frequency that it should have Duncan written on the side. ( Duncan makes YoYos for those of you who didn't get that obscure reference ). Well if you answered yes to the first and third questions then you may want to get a pair of these. If you answered yes to question two, you need to seek professional help. Read More... |
IOGEAR MiniView III 4 Port KVMP Switch
Here at the ol' Secret Laboratory we sometimes have three or four computers running at the same time. I have a hard time running from one to the other not to mention desktop real estate is used up pretty quickly by monitors and if you want to print something, forget it. Network you say? Well when you are reformatting and reinstalling OS's on test rigs as often as we are that's not the solution either. What is? A hardware solution. To be precise, a KVMP switch. ( keyboard, video, monitor, peripheral ) Thanks to the kind people at IOGEAR, we are going to see just how much of our desktop we reclaim. Read More... |
