Matt Thornley
Matt Thornley is a DJ, former multi-instrumental member of LCD Soundsystem and current member of The Crystal Ark who originated from the UK and relocated to New York in 2005.
Matt began working at DFA Records as Recording Engineer for James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy. This led him to work on a variety of remixes and recording projects with the DFA team including assisting Murphy with 45:33, the ‘This Is Happening’ album and the Grammy nominated ‘Sound of Silver’ album.
He has also toured as Live Mix Engineer for many acts including the likes of The Juan Maclean, !!! (Chk Chk Chk), Hercules and Love Affair, The Brazilian Girls and Chairlift.
Other projects involved performing on and Engineering for the soundtrack to the 2010 movie Greenberg, Directed by Noah Baumbach and starring Ben Stiller. Matt also did prestigious work arranging and playing music at several Yves Saint Laurent fashion shows in Paris, France.
As a DJ Matt has played around the world over the last few years including performing regularly in New York, having held a popular Friday night residency at Coco 66 in Brooklyn as well as Co-running a monthly dance party called “Magic Plastic”. Playing music ranging from late 70’s disco through italo, electro and house music to contemporary dance and rock tunes. Drawing from his world of driving synths, percussion rhythms and powerful beats.
